In Les Misérables, Victor Hugo introduces one of the most beloved fictional characters of classic literature, Jean Valjean, who is best known for his imprisonment for the minor offense of stealing a loaf of bread. Through the pages of this novel, Inspector Javert relentlessly pursues Valjean, determined that he should not escape punishment. Although this is a highly entertaining novel, Les Misérables was obviously the method Hugo used for criticizing French politics and the criminal justice system of the time. Not only does this pull at the heart; but it also draws the listener into an entirely different world and time.

Les Misérables is my favorite book, but it gained even more apretiation by me trough the wonderfull naration of the reader, who gives great depth to the charachters in a subtle way.
