Description

The new novel in Craig Johnson's beloved New York Times best-selling Longmire series.

Attempting to recover from his harrowing experiences in Mexico, in Land of Wolves Wyoming Sheriff Walt Longmire is neck deep in the investigation of what could or could not be the suicidal hanging of a shepherd. With unsettling connections to a Basque family with a reputation for removing the legs of Absaroka County sheriffs, matters become even more complicated with the appearance of an oversize wolf in the Big Horn Mountains to which Walt finds himself feeling more and more empathetic.

FANTASTIC ADDITION!

The pace of this book matches the earlier Walt Longmire books. Following his previous book which took Longmire to Mexico and a story told at a breakneck pace Walt is back home recovering from his injuries suffered in Mexico. His coworkers are treating him like a “Fabergé egg”.
When a shepherd hired by a working ranch is found hanging six feet off the ground with the flesh eaten from his legs Walt has two problems. Was this a suicide or homicide? And with a dead sheep close by, could a wolf have eaten the man’s flesh after filling itself on the ewe? With all the misconceptions about wolves (once they eat human flesh they get a taste for it ) the locals want it killed. At first Walt agrees but before long he has to rethink his stance. And when someone questioned his abilities at a town meeting- watch out because Walt lost it!
George Guidall does an outstanding job narrating. Please George never retire!!!!
This book has my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION.

Tired

That's how everyone associated with this latest version of Johnson's Longmire series comes across. That's how our beloved George Guidall read the story... rushed through it as though he couldn't wait for it to be over. Craig Johnson seemingly threw the story together, as though he's getting tired of putting the usual life and heart into his books about Walt. And Walt was tired, but then he was the only one who had a legitimate reason to be tired. His time in Mexico from the previous book would have worn anyone out, both physically and emotionally. All in all, I found this story, and all manner of its production to be very unsatisfying. This is such a shame, considering how eagerly we fans await the arrival of every new installment of the series.

Sad Hard story of favorite Lawman

First Narrator who I usually enjoy was very poor and it was difficult to understand his speech throughout this story. Not sure if bad sound booth or just the narrator. Next in this story Longmire was So worn down both mentally and Physically that it seems like the conclusion of the series. Henry Standing Bear is barely in the book and his personality and participation are truely missed. I hope if series continues that Narrator will put better quality in recording and the writer goes back to though older the Longmire we come to love. Sorry for poor review.
