Description

This book is dedicated to exploring the gods and goddesses that the Koreans of old worshiped, and within it, you will find more information about:

  • Strange creatures from Korean mythology
  • The Korean mythology of Tangu and Ahri
  • Gods and goddesses, and their background stories, from Korean mythology
  • Supernatural powers, relationships, and dramatic legends
  • Persisting values from Korean mythology that are present today

Korean mythology is intricate, complex, and the ideals behind some of their mythological beliefs were often intertwined with real-life events. This book will examine how both myth and fact contributed to the culture and traditions of the Koreans, and how these influences and some stories continue to live on throughout the centuries.

Best book

It is the story of our flawed human selves, our vast human longings, our capacity for love, cruelty, error and redemption. "Each life contains as much meaning as all of history," Chung writes in Forgotten Country.

Terrible narrator

It was infuriating how the guy was mispronouncing some of the names and words. I ended up not finishing it because it was so bad. I’ll do my own research if I want to learn more about the Korean myths.

This is a joke

Sounds like a teenager making things up while speaking into that karoake toy from toy story. What was his name? I think it was Mike. That description of "Mike" (maybe?) is about as helpful as this "book". Purchased due to lack of other pertinent material available.

Not exactly what I was looking for.

I guess you could say this book was informative, but not exactly what I was looking for. I was hoping it would be the actual stories of myth, instead, it was two or three sentences about various myth. Not even a full synopsis. More like a lecture from a bored professor who forgot to show up to class until the last day of the semester and tried to cover all subjects in one sitting.

This is best book for Korean Mythology

Really love these stories for my kids...I'm half Korean and my mom used to tell me tales when I was a kid and I couldn't remember exactly what the tales were...this book reminds me of my mom's storytelling and the moral lessons popular in Korean storytelling.

Helpful book

A great collection of Korean Fairy Tales translated from the original Hangul language they were written in. This book helped me to understand more of the great culture of Korea where I'm currently stationed.
