    Description

ABSURD - a film and literary production house that is passionately committed to creating and appreciating the finest works of art and literature - has now introduced the Pure Wisdom series that intends to be a collection of the greatest literature - fiction and nonfiction - that awakened and have still been awakening mankind.

This is the first book of Pure Wisdom series; it collects two finest literary works of all time - Franz Kafka's novella, The Metamorphosis, and Hermann Hesse's novel, Siddhartha.

Kafka's The Metamorphosis is one of the greatest literary works in which the protagonist, a travelling salesman, wakes up one day to discover he has been transformed into a giant insect. The absurdity of life in The Metamorphosis shakes us all terribly with some question of our very existence - why are we here? What purpose does our existence have? Does it depend on what others think of us or are we valuable enough in our helpless existences to overcome the obstacles of perception?

Siddhartha is one of the finest works of Hesse and one of the greatest books ever written. The novel is immensely beautiful; it deals with the spiritual journey of self-discovery of a man named Siddhartha during the time of the Gautama Buddha; a man who wants to know his true self completely.

    The human existence

I loved being able to listen to both books together because I was more able to appreciate the different writing styles and views on life. I loved both stories because they both spoke of beliefs that have transcended time. The stories both had a different way of going about speaking their truths and I loved it because life is not one dimensional but multi-dimensional. We all question why things are the way that they are and search for truth. In both stories we see interaction between parent and child both good and bad. I must admit that the first story was a little disheartening at times because of the way the characters life turned out but all in all I loved both stories. I received this book at my request for free and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review here of my own volition.

    Good combination for philosophical musings

Appreciated getting to listen to these two stories back to back, and reflecting on two unique writing styles and approaches to human psyche. Haven’t listened to Siddhartha since high school and it was a good refresher. The narrator has a calm soothing voice which allows your brain a minute to review the words in your head, and I liked their style for these two pieces.
