Description

Jason Fried and David Heinemeier Hansson, the authors of the New York Times best seller Rework, are back with a manifesto to combat all your modern workplace worries and fears.

It Doesn’t Have to Be Crazy at Work is a direct successor to Rework, the instant best seller that showed listeners a new path to working effectively. Now Fried and Heinemeier Hansson have returned with a new strategy for the ideal company culture - what they call 'the calm company'. It is a direct attack on the chaos, anxiety and stress that plague millions of workplaces and billions of people working their day jobs.

Working to breaking point with long hours, excessive business, and a lack of sleep have become a badge of honour for many people these days, when it should be a mark of stupidity. This isn’t just a problem for large organisations; individuals, contractors and solopreneurs are burning themselves out in the very same way. As the authors reveal, the answer isn’t more hours. Rather, it’s less waste and fewer things that induce distraction, always-on anxiety and stress.

It is time to stop celebrating crazy and start celebrating calm.

Wake up call

For anyone feeling burnt out, overworked, scrambling, always busy but never feel like you’re ever getting anything done.

This is pretty much for you.

And if you’re a entrepreneur who wants a company you and the people around you can be proud of.

This is pretty much for you too.

Enjoyable short book full of inspiration

I enjoyed all parts of this book. May be little more examples from Basecamp’s history would be welcome but the points came across well and well argued, defended.
I can recommend this book to everyone who tries to design a good human place to work for people.

Awesome book

As the previous ones, with the stamp of 37signals, this book show you, most of all, that its possible. That is possible to respect people as you always asked, to work focused but without stress and also that people actually work better and are efficient. Very well written, and without any doubt one MUST HAVE. Thanks for this awesome time you’ve gave me

One of the best books on entrepreneurship I‘ve ever read

I learned how to make the right choices to keep business a success and at the same time having a life!
Should be read by anyone who‘s stressed out not having time for his or her family by maybe not thinking outside the box. A book packed with pragmatic, proven solutions for your business and yourself.

Basecamp Werbung?

Almost like a meditation

I listened to the book mostly during breakfast before going to work. Striking contrast betweeen the ideas pomoted and what happens one hour later in office .. A lot of good, sensible points, mixed with some that are probably more on the utopic side, and based on the fact that Basecamp also had its fair share of luck. But overall, I think 2/3 of recommendations are likely applicable for everyone who wants to.
