It's all very well to say that the Bible is clear when it talks about homosexuality. But is it realistic? Isn't it unrealistic and unfair to those who struggle with this issue? Doesn't it condemn them to loneliness, a lack of fulfilment and the loss of basic human satisfactions like sex and marriage? Is what the church teaches a plausible way of life? Ed Shaw experiences same-sex attraction, and yet he is committed to what the Bible says and what the church has always taught about marriage and sex.

An inspiring new perspective on the science versus religion debate. Can science explain everything? Many people think so. Science, and the technologies it has spawned, has delivered so much to the world: Clean water; more food; better healthcare; longer life. And we live in a time of rapid scientific progress that holds enormous promise for many of the problems we face as humankind. So much so, in fact, that many see no need or use for religion and belief systems that offer us answers to the mysteries of our universe. Science has explained it, they assume. Religion is redundant.

And biblical Christians tended to react defensively rather than offering a compelling vision of their own. Many young Christians were questioning whether the Gospel really is good news in this area.

Alisa Childers never thought she would question her Christian faith. She was raised in a Christian home, where she had seen her mom and dad feed the hungry, clothe the homeless, and love the outcast. She had witnessed God at work and then had dedicated her own life to leading worship as part of the popular Christian band ZOEgirl. All that was deeply challenged when she met a progressive pastor who called himself a hopeful agnostic. Another Gospel? describes the intellectual journey Alisa took over several years as she wrestled with a series of questions.

Christianity could be defined as a “cold case”: it makes a claim about an event from the distant past for which there is little forensic evidence. In Cold-Case Christianity, J. Warner Wallace uses his nationally recognized skills as a homicide detective to look at the evidence and eyewitnesses behind Christian beliefs. Including gripping stories from his career and the visual techniques he developed in the courtroom, Wallace uses illustration to examine the powerful evidence that validates the claims of Christianity.

Histoire
Millions are satisfied to sit through hour-long, weekly religious services. Millions more have left the church, brokenhearted and cynical. But God is waking up his people - people who will risk everything and sacrifice anything to become the dynamic, powerful church seen in Scripture. We Are Church calls Christ-followers, young and old, to hold fast to their biblical roots while seeking radical change. Scripture promises an exuberant and unstoppable church. That wondrous early church of acts can be our reality today.
Description
It's the hot topic of the moment. Christians, the church, and the Bible seem to be out of step with modern attitudes towards homosexuality. And there is growing hostility towards those who hold a different view. So is God homophobic? And what do we say, and how do we relate to to both Christians and non-Christians who experience same-sex attraction. In this short, simple book, Sam Allberry wants to help confused Christians understand what God has said about these questions in the scriptures, and offers a positive and liberating way forward through the debate.

A lot of information in a compact book.
I listened to this book via Audible. The author had some very simple yet profound points on Homosexuality and the engagement of as a community. He focuses how this is a sin and not the "great sin". He offers encouragement for those struggling, as he is, and how the church should welcome the gay struggler with a focus on the Gospel and not the person's sexuality.

Precisely and concisely what Christendom needs to hear today
Sam Allberry is the lightning bolt the church needs today to wake up to the reality of how ineffective we have been at connecting the LGBTQ+ community with the Gospel. Our perspectives, attitudes and communication all need to be altered so we are aligned with how Jesus views all of humanity. Not one of us is better or worse than anyone else. We all desperately need a Savior and are called to love our neighbor. Sam communicates this beautifully in the context of human sexuality and identity, with honesty and transparency. Not an easy or popular message to present, but you do it well, Sam.

Such a helpful resource
Sam Allberry's experience and studied response to this topic is incredibly helpful for Christian's desiring to stand on the biblical truth about sexuality and respond with humility and sensitivity about it. This is a well thought out and loving treatise on the subject.

Very honest and thought provoking
I would recommend this book to any Christian families dealing with homosexuality and same sex attraction. We have read a lot of books and listened to many podcasts on this subject. It is especially good to hear a godly perspective of someone who struggles with this issue yet desires and pursues God's plan for his life.

Excellent and to the Point
It's a short read but full of Biblical truth. As the lines of morality become increasingly gray it is nice to hear some simple truth in an area that is shrouded in a lot of confusion and pain. Sam does a great job of sticking to the facts. I would have liked some more personal stories or experiences in the book since most of the information I have heard before. But for a person who doesn't know what the Bible says about homosexuality this is an excellent and simple read or in my case - listen. I love a good audio book. It allows me to get so much more information crammed in my brain while driving or doing chores.
