Fabulous !!!! Hope This Series NEVER Ends!!!

In 1788 London, Viscount Lord Ashton Radmoor is at a loss and must find the means to dig his family out of debt – he must marry an heiress. Lady Clarissa Hutton-Moore wants to be a viscountess and her brother Charles, who now holds most of Ashton’s father’s IOU’s is willing to barter those IOU’s and Lady Clarissa’s hand in marriage. Ashton’s loyal friends are more than willing to financially help him out but Ashton is determined to do this on his own. So his friends, knowing Ashton may be leg-shackled very soon, take him to a brothel where they have a surprise in store for him. What Ashton found was a young and lovely supplicant ready and waiting half nude in a bed. Surprised - yes, but more of a surprise when Ashton found himself surrounded by young boys with a gun to his head.

Lady Penelope Wherelocke Hutton-Moore, had a special gift of sight, but like most of the Wherelocke’s it never came when something would befall herself. Kidnapped and drugged Ashton was not aware that ‘Lady’ Penelope resided in the attic rooms of the house Charles and Clarissa had taken over from Penelope until she became of age and inherited. It would take but a short time before Ashton and his friends discovered Charles and Clarissa’s abominable and murderous plans.

IF HE’S SINFUL was as usual masterfully written, scripted, and narrated perfectly by Ashford MacNab who is also becoming one of my favorite narrators. His voice-overs were quite accomplished and added in the perfect dimension to let the book read out in my mind like a movie.

Howell’s characterizations were beautifully fleshed out and one couldn’t help but love Penelope, who is someone to fall in love with as Ashford quickly came to realize. The machinations of Clarissa and Charles were hateful to the extreme, but Howell balanced it out with Penelope’s ‘boys’ whom she adopted and gathered around her ever loving heart.

As book number two in this fabulous series I can attest to the fact that I have read this series out of order and have had no trouble saying with certainty that these are all stand alone books. However, book number two, IF HE’S SINFUL is just as wonderfully written as any of the various books in this series. Who doesn’t like to read about folks who are so fortunate, or unfortunate, depending on how you look at it who can read minds, can tell when someone is lying, or could track anyone down? I just have had a wonderful time with this series and find extreme enjoyment in the reading or listening of it.

NARRATOR: STILL NOT MY FAVORITE

My thoughts on the first book in this series was completely negative regarding the narrator. I decided to listen to the second in the series to see if I felt any different. Not much! The only thing I will give the narrator credit for are the childrens' voices. Others were screeching and very irritating while one of the main characters, Ashton, was SO MUNDANE! Really hard to listen to in my opinion. I'm so sorry to see that Ashford MacNab reads all the series with the exception of the last release. Maybe there's hope!

Just so that I'm clear...I do love the story and Hannah Howell.

Love this serious

Where does If He's Sinful rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

The characters are great, interesting and funny. Well developed personality and the offspring are a fun challenge. Best so far!

Pretty Darn Good

Ashford MacNab does a pretty good job.
Love the connection they all have. Pen and the boys were fun. Liked when they save her.
Did feel that Pen and Ashton did belong together.
Liked Lady Mary and how she and Aunt Aunora takes charge of the house and boys and even Charles when Pen is shot.
Like the raid on the bordelo except for Bran's pain. And how he acts with Faith's siblings and deal with her father just wish we knew how he deals with his mother.
And when they find the solicitor and Uncle August discovers that Dobson the BowStreet man may be part of their family.
Charles and Clarissa finally get what they deserved.
On to the next one!

Narrator

I like the story, but was a little disappointed in the narrator. Her reading of the story was clear, and the main character's voice was good, but the others sounded harsh and forced. She would drop her voice as low as she could for the male parts, but it sounded raspy and very flat. As if, they all spoke in flat, monotone voices. I'm sure I couldn't do any better, but it was a bit grating. The bad guys all sounded like a cartoon witch. It was just weird.

Great Story! Awful narration!

The hero always sounded bored, sedated, or both. Really enjoyed the story so I stuck with it, but a better narrator would have made it more enjoyable.

The story was good...

I thought the story was good but I get frustrated with authors that fill pages with sex and in minute detail. I'm just one who doesn't need that to enjoy a story.

Overrated

I bought this audiobook because of it's high ratings. I was disappointed. The lead male character's voice sounded like a drone or a transvestite and the story was very predictable. I did not listen to the last 40 mins., I was bored.

Like the story but not the narrator

Would you listen to If He's Sinful again? Why?

The story is a bit predictable but still a good read. The narrator though was a HUGE distraction. A sixteen year old boy sounds like Riff Raff from Rocky Horror, in fact most of the male characters sound like a bunch of guys imitating Riff Raff.

What was one of the most memorable moments of If He's Sinful?

Really no stand out moments

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Ashford MacNab?

ANYONE!!!!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

NO

Any additional comments?

I would like to get the rest of the series but frankly with this narrator you better come up with one hell of a price drop (maybe a $.01 sale or BOGO).

How slow can a narrator speak?

The story is a little slow as it is. When you put that to a very slow speaker you will have no trouble falling asleep. I found myself increasing the speed on the play but then it sounds funny. It's hard to keep in involved with the story.
