But How Not to Diet goes beyond food to identify 21 weight-loss accelerators available to our bodies, incorporating the latest discoveries in cutting-edge areas like chronobiology to reveal the factors that maximize our natural fat-burning capabilities. This is why authors should not read their books

This could be really interesting but the sing-song voice and uneven tempo makes it hard for me to listen to. I might buy the print copy, but I’m returning this.

Science based dieting

I love Dr. Michael Greger and how he talks so him reading his book is a bonus for me. If you want science based weight loss tips or health tips in general this book is the best that you can buy, period.

Do yourself a favor... buy the Kindle version!!!!

I can never, ever understand why doctors and other medical professionals decide to narrate their own works instead of hiring a professional narrator. It's as bizarre and unprofessional as a narrator deciding to spend a few weeks being a doctor. I'm sure this author's science is sound, and I like the content that I heard in the first 15 minutes. But he narrates this thing sounding like Johnny Bravo. I'm honestly surprised he didn't say, "Hey, little mama..." at some point. Maybe his quirky speech pattern is much loved by his patients, but I could not stomach more than fifteen minutes. How can I take his science seriously when he sounds like a cartoon character? Sorry if that's harsh, but you'd think after all the time, work, energy, and money put into this, narration would be a critical piece of the pie. Some words are agonizingly slow, and other times he talks so fast that all the words run together. I don't see how anyone can get through the whole 24 hours worth of audio without anxiety, frustration, and really high blood pressure. Which doesn't bode well for good health. Anyway, it's pretty disappointing. I would have loved to listen to the whole thing, but I'm returning for a credit. Maybe I'll buy it on Kindle.

Content Fantastic. Author is UNLISTENABLE!

I do not know what Dr. Gregers deal is. The content presented is wonderful, insightful and thoughtfully presented. However, the way Dr Greger speaks is dang near unlistenable. His performance of the book, rather than just reading it, is destroyed because he wants to elongate every other word, slow down and speed up every other word after that. It's terrible. And I am shocked that the publisher didn't say anything. It was worse for this book than his last book. He sounds like a snake oil salesman even though he's not. Im not digging the shtick and I wish I could get my money back and just buy the book to avoid this nonsense.

Here is the Evidence!

If you are a fan of Dr. Greger it is a joy to listen to this book. It is like he is in the room reading to you. I actually hoped he would narrate it. It wouldn't be the same without his inflections and the way he presents the material. I bought his book, but lately I have spent more time in the car than reading so I purchased the audible version too. I love Dr. Greger's work because of the thorough research he does for everything. Now I can take it where ever I go from the gym, to trips to the supermarket and beyond. Those who find his narration an issue, I ask how do you make a technically rich research book engaging? You do that through pure personality. If you have heard any of Dr. Greger's great videos online, This is one big long version of those great powerful videos rolled into a book. I am looking fwd to all 23 hours plus of this book. This is priceless. Thanks for all your hard work! "You're the guy!

recording I'd up

I'm really trying to listen but the recording seems slurred and drawn out. I speed up the recording but still super annoying. what the heck happened? how not to die sounds normal. Is the author drunk in this version or did I just get a bad audio version?
