What do you do when you find three cassettes buried like pirate treasure? You transcribe them of course. Especially when you find a horrific story recorded on them. I might've bitten off more than I could chew when I found and listened to those relics of a by-gone age but that was nothing compared to Steven J. Matheson. Matheson, an insurance investigator in the 1970's happened onto events that he was ill-prepared to deal with.
He recorded his ordeal in a series of audio cassettes that somehow found their way to be buried on a piece of property left to me by a long-deceased grandmother. In the following pages, I've transcribe an account of murder, intrigue, sex and body mutilation as told by Matheson. At the center of all this is the sleepy little town of Homer Allen Arkansas, population 85, where the River Man walks and you can trade a finger or two for your wildest desires.
