Description
I'm a one-and-done kind of hellhound.... I don't catch feelings....
Once upon a time, my first and last relationship taught me that romantic love isn't enough to stop your boyfriend from trying to kill you. Been there, done that, got the T-shirt. My awesomeness is now strictly reserved for one-nighters and casual hookups.
Besides, things are heating up at the Community of Species Government, and I'm right in the thick of it all. Those bad guys are going down-and not in the good way. They might seem to have the drop on us right now, but we're going to turn the tables on them. Even if it means going on a mission with Aidan Byrne.
I'm still not happy about the way Aidan handled things with my bestest bestie a few months back, even if he did turn out to be right. Plus, there's something about him that rubs my fur in the wrong direction. He's the kind of guy who thinks karaoke is only for college kids and looks down on me for licking my own balls. He also thinks that just because he's the species leader, he's in charge.
Too bad for him, I've never backed away from a challenge...even if it is unnervingly sexy and really bendy. A hookup won't lead to feelings...right?

Awesome book!
I love Hijinks with a Hellhound. Alastair is such a fun and mischievous person and Aidan seems like he's all put together and mature yet they fit together perfectly.
I love the direction the story is going. The elves are so cool! The magic is fascinating, and I can't wait for more about the dragons!
I bought the audio book and Joel Leslie is fantastic! I love how he can do so many accents perfectly.

Fun, feisty and fantastic
Our favorite hellhound and the shifter species leader get thrown into a headlong search to figure out where the bad guy is hiding. Along the way, there are antics and a bit of chaos, mixed in with action and finding an elf. An alliance forms between dimensions and a race to save all life as we know it begins in earnest. Aiden and Alistair are a unique pairing and it is great to see them overcome initial hesitancies and fall for each other. I like how complex the plot is in this series. Maters takes a lot of time to convey the details, but she doesn’t let the detailed descriptions become long, boring monologues- often breaking things up with humor or action. Joel Leslie blows my mind with how many different characters he voices and keeps track of. I can instantly tell just by listening to Joel’s voice which character is speaking. With this impressive ability, along with superb inflections and timing conveying the full spectrum of emotion, Joel Leslie is absolutely one of the best narrators out there.

Alastair….
The big goofy, fun loving hellhound has a mission and he wants to pout because it’s with his species leader, you know the one that forced the shift on Sam… their trip takes them to the west coast where they found the stink of Tish and elves… there’s a knock on their door one night and who’s there but an elf. Good times, moving on to the next book.

an incredible twist!
I'm so excited by the transfer from Modern fantasy to high fantasy. It's really cool. Brilliant author and Joel Leslie never lets me down. my only problem is I feel like I don't get the full ending of the romance but I suppose that will come with the continuation of the series. I love this!

Cute
I listened to the first part of this series, then skipped the second story. You can do that with no worries because everything is explained again.
Now, the main problem I have with this is... it has no stakes. Or rather it does, but they never feel like real obstacles. That makes for a very relaxing audiobook, but sadly also a not very interesting story.
Now, to the good parts. I loved Alistair. All his dramatics compliment Aiden's calmer demeanor, and he is exuberant and fun. He really shines in this one and isn't just always the funny one. He gets to show why he's a member of the Lucifer's team. And Aiden works just so perfectly for him! He's a lot more calm but never boring - he has his responsibilities and works with those in mind. He isn't defined by them, though, he gets to be funny and flirty and cute. I also like how the story deals with the power imbalance.
As always, Joel Leslie is amazing. He does all the accents and different voices and I have zero complaints.
