Alan Innes, Laird of Edinburgh, Clan McGregor, finds himself falling for the beautiful servant-maid, Heather, the daughter of the castle’s groundskeeper. He has just returned home to the castle, planning his wedding to a woman he will never love. When his mother catches Alan and Heather alone, her suspicions rise. Lady Innes will do whatever has to be done to keep her son and Heather apart. When Lady Innes concocts a plan to banish Heather from the castle with Alan’s betrothed, things take a deadly turn. When Alan’s betrothed then disappears, all eyes fall on Heather. While Alan does not want to believe that Heather is capable of such horrible deeds, he soon discovers he was wrong. With a breaking heart, he realizes that the woman he loves is not who she says she is, and both she and her father must be put to death.
