Not as packaged

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

No speeches by Martin Luther King Jr, Mohandas Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Malcom X, Ronald Reagan or Elie Wiesel. Only speeches from other American polticians arguing such things as the policy of the Gold Standard.

Has Great Speeches of the 20th Century turned you off from other books in this genre?

Only by Bob Blaisdell

Would you be willing to try another one of the narrators’s performances?

No.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Informed me about the debate re: the gold standard.

Any additional comments?

I probably should request a refund.

No metadata - You have to guess who is speaking

What did you like best about Great Speeches of the 20th Century? What did you like least?

Obviously, it's quality content. But, it would be nice to know the "who/when/where" of each of the speeches. Many are obvious, but there are more than a few that I couldn't pick out.

Additionally, the chaptering doesn't seem to coincide with the speeches. One chapter contains more than one speech.

Would you be willing to try another book from Bob Blaisdell? Why or why not?

What three words best describe the narrators’s voice?

N/A

Do you think Great Speeches of the 20th Century needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

N/A

Any additional comments?

Metadata and/or a better description on the Audio Book detail page would be very helpful.

Needs Narration

This just plays one speech after another with no narration of who is even speaking. The only one I recognized was Martin Luther King JR. It would be nice to at least have somebody narrate at least the name of the speaker, name of speech and/or time&place it took place. At the very least we could have been given a table of contents or outline. I was born in the late 80s I wasn't around for any of these. I cannot possibly recognize or know who is speaking. I was hoping to learn from this audiobook.

this was an awesome audio. the only complaint is I wanted to know who was speaking. labeling the chapters or something would have been the thing that made this so much more enjoyable!

Great for studying speeches!

No story, just a lot of pivotal speeches. If you ever wondered about the whole I have a dream spwwch, the Pearl Harbor Declaration of War or Churchill's Fight On speech, wonder no more!

Great but....

Any additional comments?

Great to have all of these speeches to listen to. One big problem in my opinion: there's no kind of introduction to any of the speeches. Many I happened to know who they were or what the speeches were about, but many I did not. This book REALLY needs some sort of short introduction to each speech for those of us who don't automatically know all the names, and basic details. I suspect that most people listening to this would feel that way, but that's just my opinion.

No introduction to speeches/info

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

No idea.

Has Great Speeches of the 20th Century turned you off from other books in this genre?

No

What didn’t you like about the narrators’s performance?

The Sound quality was inconsistent. Some speeches were very clear while others were indistinct. Also, it would have been nice to at least have an intro as to who was speaking next and the year the speech was given.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Irritation.
