    Description

A husband. A wife. A mistress. And the ultimate plan for revenge....

James never intended to lead a double life; with a wife in London and a mistress in the country, it's exhausting. But that's all about to change....

Stephanie, his wife, isn't really snooping when she finds a text message from a strange woman on her husband's mobile. But now she's found it, how can she ignore it? It's time to track the woman down and find out what's going on....

Katie has no reason to believe her boyfriend, James, is cheating on her until someone claiming to be his wife gets in touch. Now she's been cast in the role of mistress. Not one she's happy with....

Once Stephanie and Katie know about each other, they must decide what to do. They could both just throw him out or they could join forces to make his life hell first; but revenge isn't always sweet. And what happens when one woman thinks enough is enough but the other doesn't know when to stop?

    A Monster fueled by Schadenfreude

This was another good Jane Fallon story with her usual elements of friendship, fidelity, rightful retaliation, schadenfreude (pleasure from the misfortune of another) and without being cheesy. This story closely parallels the 2014 romantic/comedy, “The Other Woman” with Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann and Kate Upton – where the mistress and wife collude against the husband (except in the movie, there is a second mistress). In this book, a man leads a double life for over a year, splitting his time in the city and the country as a veterinarian in two different clinics. His “real” life is in the city with his wife and son and his other life is with his mistress in the country. The two women get into contact after one learns about the deception and instead of taking out their fury on each other, they plot against the husband. They devise the ultimate plan to disgrace and oust him at his 40th birthday party, but as it is months away, they make his life miserable in the meantime. However, one of them starts to take it too far and the other must decide whether to put a halt to everything or continue with the plan he deserves. The ending is satisfying and the narrator was particularly excellent with a range of realistic voices from a young and old woman to a little boy.

    Great narrator!

One of the best narrators I’ve heard. I’ll be looking for more of her books. It was a fun listen.

    Pretty good chic lit

I enjoyed this book right up to the last few chapters. It had a weak ending in my opinion. Good narration. Little boy character was a brat - not sure if author meant it to be that way. What 7 year old gets away with calling his mother stupid repeatedly??!

    Un buen libro

Es uno de los libros que más disfruté de la escritora. Me gustó como se realizaba el cambio de narrador, y que incluyera una perspectiva masculina.

Just could not get through it

The involuntary eye-rolling started less than 1/4 of the way into the book. I'd listened to another of the author's books, Faking Friends, and gave it a glowing review. I liked it so much I went looking for her other titles. The fact that the description of this book sounded familiar to Faking Friends did give me pause (it has similar themes of cheating spouses, discovering that one's spouse is cheating and keeping that on the down low while you get revenge, cheaters having a change of heart.) But Faking Friends was so laugh-out-loud good, I didn't give it much thought. Got You Back deals with these themes in the most ham-fisted, really bad C-list soap-opera-y kind of way. The characters are annoyingly flat, the plot cloyingly predictable. Don't waste your time.

    Amusing...but limp three quarters through

Good; bloke's wife and girlfriend gang up to exact revenge on cheating liar.
Bad; wife and girlfriend don't seem like real people.
It's 2020: women have more important things to do than to seek other men to cure their man blues.
Narrator: a pleasure to listen to.

    Interesting but nothing Surprising

While I enjoyed the storyline a d performance it felt as if it would go on forever. There were no surprises. Very predictable. The narrator was perfect for this type of story.

    Waste of time

I was really disappointed when the 2 women decided to back out of their revenge because they took pity upon the husband which defeated the whole purpose of the plot.

Her books all have the same plot

I loved the first book I read of hers, “Faking Friend.” So I picked this one next. But then I realized that every single book she writes is about cheating husbands/boyfriends and their wives/girlfriends getting revenge on them without them knowing they’re doing it.. Her characters are great, but she seriously needs another plot line. If you like reading multiple books on getting revenge on cheating significant others then by all means read all of hers but I’m moving on.
