Foster really surprised me. I picked it because it was short—I figured if my mind wandered (I’m not used to the Irish accent), I could just listen again. And honestly, I ended up enjoying that process. Aoife McMahon’s narration is gentle and soothing, and it fits the tone of the story so well.

This book reminded me that not every great story needs to be long. There’s something really moving about its quiet simplicity. The themes are deep and a bit tragic, but that only makes the tender moments feel even more special. The ending really stayed with me—it’s a quiet, powerful moment where a child recognizes love, just as she’s about to lose it.

If you're looking for something short but meaningful, this one's worth a listen.
