Description

A Sunday Times best seller.

The 14th incredible Dirk Pitt classic from multi-million-copy king of the adventure novel, Clive Cussler.

Tracking a notorious Chinese smuggler's activities leads Dirk Pitt from Washington State to Louisiana, where his quarry is constructing a huge shipping port in the middle of nowhere. Why has he chosen this unlikely location?

The trail then leads to the race to find the site of the mysterious sinking of the ship that Chiang Kai-shek filled with treasure when he fled China in 1949, including the legendary boxes containing the bones of Peking Man that had vanished at the beginning of World War I. As Pitt prepares for a final showdown, he is faced with the most formidable foe he has ever encountered....

Brick is Brilliant!

Great story, Dirk is full of fun and Al as well. Loved hearing the Oregon story. Please get the other dozen or so books on audible as soon as possible.

What a FABULOUS book - Clive Cussler at his BEST!

Scott Brick was absolutely at the top of his performance! Adventure after adventure - WOW! I love Clive’s little performance - really clever! His mind is an ABSOLUTE AMAZEMENT! How can one human being imagine all the tales? He is certainly ONE OF A KIND!

I was a bit confused, but then, it’s a re release

Juan Cabrillo is in this one too, and he had both legs....for a while. A 486 computer was dating it so now I knew something was up. Looking back it I found out it was first released 9-97. That being said it was a very good listen, just think prequel if you didn’t read it before and you’ll be fine.

I love Cussler and the Dirk Pitt series. I especially love this story with the introduction of the Oregon gang.

Not worth the listen

I have enjoyed most if not all of Clive's adventures because they are engaging, a means of escape from the current world and entertaining. Clive has decided with this book to interject obviously his own current political views and make the an integral part of the story. He is certainly allowed to have his own views. That he feels the need to make his propaganda part of his stories is quite frankly unnecessary. I use to like Tom Clancy until he felt the need to educate us all on his politics as part of the story. I dropped him like a hot potato for that and will be returning this book for the same reason. I read books and listen to stories for entertainment. Scott Brick is awesome as always. The story is just nonsense.

Expertly written and narrated

"Adventure junkies", this series is a must read/listen.
Dirk Pitt and his cast of friends are truly an enjoyable part of the world of adventure heroes.
I am so very glad too that this series is being narrated by Scott Brick! I can't wait for the rest of the series (many of the earlier books) to be released on Audio.

Three novels in one

Never wanted this book to end is an understatement. Every time I thought a plot came to fruition another quickly began. Each one better. Each one a book that could have stood alone. And Scott Brick gave it a life of its own as he always does to make each word more intriguing than the last. Thank you Mr. Cussler

A formulaic yet fun light read.

Some of the "love" scenes were so corny they injected a dose of unintended humor into the listen.
