Where Was This Book My Entire Life?
This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review. I am naturally introverted and shy. Growing up it was painful trying to talk to other people unless I was given a context for interaction – like a classroom setting or during a game. This book helps gives prompts on what kinds of questions to ask to elicit specific types of responses and encourage the flow of conversation. Examples are listed and the reader can easily use this as a guide in preparation for social events. This would have been a life saver to younger me. I muddled through adolescence but with a lot of trial and error – including unintended offense, perceived creepiness and embarrassment. This book would have helped to mitigate a lot of that. This is something I still struggle with from time to time. The book is short and gets to the point. It is helpful if you have troubles making personal or business small talk. Or even as a refresher. The answers we get are often contingent on the questions we ask. It is good to be mindful of what we are asking and why.
