I'm a girl who believes in science and facts. Not fate. Not destiny. Or dreams that will never come true. I'm definitely not the kind of girl who meets a cute boy on a crowded New York City street and falls in love with him. Not when my family is 12 hours away from being deported to Jamaica. Falling in love with him won't be my story.

You were my first. Not just sex, although that was part of it, but the first to look past everything else into me. Some of the names and places have been changed, but the story is true. It's all here because one day this will be the past and I don't want to forget what I went through, what I thought, what I felt, who I was. I don't want to forget you. But most of all, I don't want to forget me.

Olive is always unlucky: in her career, in love, in...well, everything. Her identical twin sister, Amy, on the other hand, is probably the luckiest person in the world. Her meet-cute with her fiancé is something out of a romantic comedy (gag), and she’s managed to finance her entire wedding by winning a series of internet contests (double gag). Worst of all, she’s forcing Olive to spend the day with her sworn enemy, Ethan, who just happens to be the best man.

It's just a small story really, about, among other things, a girl, some words, an accordionist, some fanatical Germans, a Jewish fist-fighter, and quite a lot of thievery. Set during World War II in Germany, Markus Zusak's groundbreaking new novel is the story of Liesel Meminger, a foster girl living outside of Munich. Liesel scratches out a meager existence for herself by stealing when she encounters something she can't resist: books.

Very good story and reader

Description
Eleanor is the new girl in town, and she's never felt more alone. All mismatched clothes, mad red hair and chaotic home life, she couldn't stick out more if she tried. Then she takes the seat on the bus next to Park. Quiet, careful and - in Eleanor's eyes - impossibly cool, Park's worked out that flying under the radar is the best way to get by.
Slowly, steadily, through late-night conversations and an ever-growing stack of mix tapes, Eleanor and Park fall in love. They fall in love the way you do the first time, when you're 16, and you have nothing and everything to lose.
Set over the course of one school year in 1986, Eleanor & Park is funny, sad, shocking and true - an exquisite nostalgia trip for anyone who has never forgotten their first love.

romantic and nostalgic
I think It's a great teenage love story that can transpourt you to your memories of the first boyfriend, like a pure and inocence love. Also the autor shows the bullying that some teenagers have to go trough in school and some dificulties with deep family problems.

sweet teenage romance
I'm really not an expert on books and narration, but I can say the book was a little dull sometimes. I also really didn't like the male voiceactor's voice for Eleanor. A very sweet book. I really liked the beginning, when Elaenor and Park began their romance in the bus

I totally disagree with the ending
I have three thoughts about the book.
1. In contrast to many reviewers I get why Park and Eleanor fell in love. At that age it doesn't need long term compatibility to fall in love. It just needs a spark. And that was there. They were both "different".
2. I perceived the book to have moments when I felt it dragging.
***SPOILER ALERT***
3. I hated the end and don't agree with it. I was in a situation of a long distance teenage relationship at 14 with much less chance of revival and when you love like that you don't just let the person go! I coudn't believe it when I got to the end. I don't get it and it really spoiled the whole book for me. I ended up hating it.

Liebevolles YA - 3,5 Sterne

Warum?
Park, because he is so open.
Welche Figur hat Rebecca Lowman and Sunil Malhotra Ihrer Meinung nach am besten interpretiert?
The both were exceptional good readers
Hat dieses Hörbuch Sie emotional stark bewegt? Mussten Sie laut z.B. lachen, weinen, zweifeln, etc.?
This book is funny, sad, cute and sweet, without being tacky.
Was wäre für andere Hörer sonst noch hilfreich zu wissen, um das Hörbuch richtig einschätzen zu können?
I was sorry when the book ended.... but it was a perfect end:))

Langweilig
Eine ziemlich langweilige Story über eine Teenagerliebe. Zum Ende hin wird es etwas spannend, um dann völlig abrupt zu enden. Vielleicht können echte Teenager damit mehr anfangen.
