Description

Resilient, kickass, and determined, Aislinn's walled herself off from anything that might make her feel again. Until a wolf picks her for a bond mate and a Celtic god rises out of legend to claim her for his own.

Aislinn Lenear lost her anthropologist father high in the Bolivian Andes. Her mother, crazy with grief that muted her magic, was marched into a radioactive vortex by dark creatures and killed. Three years later, stripped of every illusion that ever comforted her, 22-year-old Aislinn is one resilient, kickass woman with a take-no-prisoners attitude. In a world turned upside down, where virtually nothing familiar is left, she's conscripted to fight the dark gods responsible for her father's death. Battling evil on her own terms, Aislinn walls herself off from anything that might make her feel again in this compelling dystopian urban fantasy.

Fionn MacCumhaill, Celtic god of wisdom, protection, and divination, has been laying low since the dark gods stormed Earth. He and his fellow Celts decided to wait them out. After all, three years is nothing compared to their long lives. On a clear winter day, Aislinn walks into his life and suddenly all bets are off. Awed by her courage, he stakes his claim to her and to an Earth he's willing to fight for.

Aislinn's not so easily convinced. Fionn's one gorgeous man, but she has a world to save. Emotional entanglements will only get in her way. Letting a wolf into her life was hard. Letting love in may well prove impossible.

I love this freaking story!!!

Where does Earth's Requiem rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I am sorry but this is a freaking 5 all day long. It is Fantasy meets Dark Erotica meets Science Fiction meets Romance. I am just so glad that I got book 1. Book 2 was given to me in return for my honest opinion but I wanted to read the entire story so I went ahead and bought this one and can't believe I hadn't listened to until now. This is right up my alley. I loved the fact that it has action and story line oh yes and hot sex but really the story line is great!!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

A moment no not just one moment but I was definitely touched when her dad was killed in front of her and when her mom was taken. When she goes to get Travis, when the Wolf is hurt and she finds out about her healing powers, come on now just too many moments for me to mention.

Any additional comments?

Such a great story!!

Interesting

I found this book to be interesting. It's a mix between fantasy, sci-fi, and post-apocalyptic genres. It has a decent story and flows fairly well. There were some slow points that made it difficult for me to get through. It is a unique story and I did enjoy listening to it for the most part. I would definitely recommend this book for fans of fantasy series, especially anyone interested in celtic mythology and dragons.

Intense journey by a fierce character

Enjoyed this book and the believable characters populating it. The journey has quite a few twists and turns and I hope to listen to the rest of the series.

OMG What a wild story

OMG WOW WHAT A WILD STORY

ok not sure I would completely label this romance more on the lines of paranormal wild action with romance lol

on a earth that everything we know has ended or changed and Loved ones are gone. We are under the rule of 2 groups 1. the old ones from another world and they have changed and or have killed most humans the ones still alive have been trained to use the magic they have. 2. The dark lords they mostly just kill ya.

This is the first book in a 3 book set and now I am so hook it is really great story. I can't wait to see what happens in the next book wow. So mind blowing with magic, gods, and dragon

This book was given for an honest review and I can honestly say I love it. You will not be disappointed in it!

definitely need to pick up the second book

So this is a tough one, and while there are no big spoilers….there may be some small ones ahead…..I did not care for this story at all in the beginning, Aislinn was not a kick ass heroine, I found her to be kinda whiny and not very likable….because of how it started out with Aislinn by the time we get close to the 30ish % mark when she started to come into her magic, I had a hard time buying it, she was changing to quickly and it did not really fit with how she (her personality/attitude) was initially presented to the reader/listener. Then she was starting to become likeable and would lapse into the whiney person we met. It was not until about halfway through the story that I actually started liking it.

So from the halfway point the story was more engaging and Aislinn became a much more likeable person for me, and she is starting to become the kick ass person the book blurb describes her as. She is coming into her magic and discovering that she can do more. Fionn, the Celtic God of wisdom, protection and divination hooks up with Aislinn and while they have a rocky start they seem to work it out. I’m not sure how I feel about Fionn while he was likeable there seemed to be something missing from his character….not sure if something was lost in the narration versus reading. As we are introduced to some of the other Celtic Gods that are still around, it me wonder that if the Celtic Gods are still around what about the other pantheons and why not try to get them involved…..I guess I need to keep reading to find out. While I did end up liking this at the end, it did end on a cliff hanger so definitely need to pick up the second book to see what happens next, but the second book will be a “make it or break it” read for me.

The narrator Caroline McLaughlin, is a new to me narrator and while I think she did a good job there were points of the story where the narration seemed off and a bit disjointed….not sure if it was how she was trying to convey the emotion of the situation or not but that aside the characters were easily distinguishable and she did good on the voices.

Gods, Witches, Dragons and Lemurians

Aislinn lives on our earth, but `Lemurians, tall lizard-like creatures who hide behind an illusion of humanity have taken over our world. They sorted out which humans had magic and got rid of the others by luring them into a vortex. Those who remain must fight for the Lemurians against the dark gods that appeared when they took over. Aislinn is one of the ones that fights, and when her Lemurian bosses discover that she has more magic than the normal human they invite her to their realm. On the way, she meets Rune, a wolf who convinces her that she has hunter magic as well as that of a seer, a seeker and a healer a rare combination. Fionn is a gorgeous hunk of man who turns out to be a Celtic god. Sparks fly and together they confirm her suspicions that the Lemurians are not the benign ones they would have the humans believe. With the old Celtic gods on their side, can the humans free the earth from the Lemurians and the dark gods ?
The end is a bit of a cliffhanger,
Would I recommend this book Yes

Astounding story line

This book has a story line that is well put together and leaves you routing for them to win back earth. I don't usually like alien invasion books but add manic and the human will to service and this book hooks you in to the last word and leaves you wanting to start the next in the series right away.

Wow! What a fascinating story!

What a creative story! Ann Gimpel has created a end of days Earth where gods, ancient beings, and humans all vie for control. I just loved the character Aislinn. She was an extremely strong woman yet real at the same time. Aislinn is thrown into the middle of the conflict when her growing magic starts to gain everyone's attention. In the midst of the craziness she finds love with a Celtic God. The book does end with a cliffhanger, so expect to listen to the whole series. I enjoyed this book and I will be listening to the next one.
