Description

Fred did something bad.

He didn’t intend to do it, but the destruction of a dungeon core - accident or otherwise - will likely result in horrific consequences for anyone connected with the crime.

And not for just the perpetrators; everyone around them will suffer vengeful retribution from the nearby cores for the unthinkable act.

Knowing that his mistake will end up endangering his new friends, the townspeople of Gatecross, and even his Guild, Core Power, Fred decides to do whatever he can to protect them.

After he absorbed the nature core, he unlocked the ability to establish a territory and create his very own dungeon - a dungeon which will hopefully provide the defense they need to survive against the expected fight to come.

Unfortunately, the nature faction isn’t the only one that learned about Fred’s crime.

The Dungeon Adventurer Syndicate, under the authority of the Craytion Kingdom, has sent a powerful group to investigate....

Contains LitRPG/GameLit elements such as statistics and leveling.

No harems and no profanity.

This series is wonderful

Honestly this might be one of the best Dungeon Core books I've read - and I have read a ton of them. This is harem free, profanity free, and NOT for kids. I'm blown away by how good this is.

This is definitely a twist on the core type books, but *is* still a dungeon core book. The ratings are not over-hyped. Pick this up!

Bit of a slog, but ultimately worth it...

Kudo’s to Jonathan Brooks for a truly unique take on the Dungeon-Core sub-sub-genre of GameLit. His imaginative world building is refreshing in an often cluttered field of borderline Fan-Fiction also-rans and harem-obsessed, giggling 12-year-olds.

Not only that but his books are fairly well edited in regards to grammar and word-choice. That said, Brooks indulged a bit too heavily in his passion for dungeon building mechanics in the first half of this book. For almost the entirety of the first four hours he eschewed story telling for direct exposition of how dungeon building works.

Now normally, I’m a fan of understanding the mechanisms and structure of the magic system in my fantasy novels. However, not at the total expense of the momentum of the story. The author spent almost half of this book in one long recitation of the process of building a dungeon and didn’t bother much with characters, plot, scene setting, or even prose itself. It was almost like the narrator was reading directly from an imaginary college text book on the inner workings and functions of general dungeon construction... it was pretty dry.

I had to put down and pick up this audiobook 3 times before I was able to make it through to the second half of the book... Then I listened straight through to the point of staying up till the wee hours to finish it.

At the close of this audiobook I ended up wanting to hear the next one twice as much as I originally wanted to listen to this one... hence my statement that it’s worth the slog.

I will be buying the next installment, but I very much hope that Mr. Brooks does a better job of blending his passion for world mechanics with his obvious talent for story-telling. I’m hesitantly giving this 4 stars in the hopes that his next book smooths this wrinkle out.

An amazing continuation

All you want from a litRPG dungeon novel, with great twist and thus perfect if you like the genre, but might be looking for something slightly different. Highly recommended.

nice and clean, the progress is steady with no crazy jumps and the main character has no crazy hangups.

great book, but half a product

great story and character development strong structure but the only problem I have is the length. it feels way to short, I normally try to avoid any books under 15 hours or 600 pages but some are just worth it. I recommend this book but also recommend making them a bit longer. more detail into the dungeon formation, more main character involvement and the S rated guys. ple ty of room to expand on but wasn't. just feels like I got half of a finished product like a few other authors do. i wont black this other in my chats but do recommend he works a little more on it. performance was 5/5

A big number 1 for book number 2!

Brooks and Meili team up to do it again.
Our lovable yet ignorant MC is starting to gain power and finds out what he is in this book.
Does our clueless MC have a love interest?
The dungeons are not happy with one of their own getting destroyed and are going to destroy all the humans in the area to send a message.
The little town that has taken in our MC is the destination for annihilation. Will they survive? What will the Human kingdom do to make sure that the dungeons don't kill more humans than the one small town?
If you like fantasy and especially LitRPG, you are going to love this book. (and series)

Even better than the first

The world-building in this series continues to impress. I'm interested to see where the story goes from here. The narrator does a great job bringing the characters to life.

a bit predictable but overall nice

my biggest problem is that the books feel so short and the stat blocks are a bit repetativ, but other than that this book series is not bad. If you never heard/read a dungeoncore litrpg before I would recomand "Dungeon born" over this one but this is still quite the good book.

I'm looking forward to the next book.
