Description
"A full master of the epic fantasy." (Tulsa World)
One of the world’s most acclaimed fantasists, New York Times best-selling author Robin Hobb returns to the world of her popular Tawny Man trilogy with Dragon Haven - the second book, following Dragon Keeper ("Imaginative, literate, and compassionate from first page to last" (Booklist)) in an epic adventure about the resurgence of dragons in a world that both needs and fears them.
Hobb, whose Soldier Son trilogy (Shaman’s Crossing, Forest Mage, Renegade’s Magic) has won raves from critics, fans, and peers alike, returns to the Rain Wilds with Dragon Haven, and fans of Raymond Feist, Terry Brooks, and Lois McMaster Bujold will eagerly follow.

Too many sexual scenes.
I really like the idea of the story but this book dwelt a lot on Cedric and I didn't enjoy his part. I felt the sexual scenes were gratuitous with him and others.

The story is great!
but the narration is not great. not great at all. Robin Hobb hasn't written a story I don't like but I wish I could get a refund for the already purchased audibles and buy them from a bookstore or for kindle or something. The narrator makes me feel like I'm sitting on the floor listening to a story before nap time.

Findings
This book series so far is all about finding - an identity, a purpose, a city, a treasure, an orientation. I am finding that I am sad that I already bought the next book.

Listen at 1.7x or faster to get through this garbage.
This book series of 16 books was recommended as a fantastic series online…and it’s just progressively getting worse. I don’t care about any of the characters. Nothing happened in this book… everything could’ve been covered in two pages, exceedingly boring.

Disappointing storyline; too much explicit sex!
started as an intriguing and well-crafted story in the "Live Ship Traders" trilogy, fell far short in this washed-out and diminished "Rain Wild Chronicles" series. The storyline was too often weak and much too drawn out in overdramatization. Some of her characters were enjoyable, and morphed into exceptional growth throughout the story. But too many other characters lacked their promised potential, becoming instead rather petty and unlikeable characters that I quickly lost interest in.
The author spent an over exorbitant amount of time emphasizing her character's sexual exploits rather than on the development of her dragons and their characterization. And to the author's discredit, both to her characters and to her craft, the constant display, and the many lewd and crude comments the author slipped into this story regarding those sexual exploits, left me feeling dirty and uncomfortable, to the extent that I no longer have any interest in ever reading any more of Robin Hobb's work.

a simple, enjoyable story
after The Tawney Man trilogy, this book seems like a fresh cup of tea. nothing fancy, but good palate cleansing tea. like before, I can only listen to this narrator on 1.2 speed. I just can't otherwise. I have to mentally prepare for her voice...ugh...

Excellent development…
Of characters and story line. Cannot wait to see how the story continues. Both human and dragons are incredibly interesting.

Amazingly Wonderful
Robin Hobb’s creativity to shape a world of people and creatures with betrayal set against true love, and layers upon layers of other meaning to discover and ponder, jumps off the pages to take flight as spoken word. Not every writing translates well into the verbal. The fact that Hobbs’ can, and does, speaks to how amazingly wonderful is her talent. Thank you for this gift.
