Description

This is a memoir written and read by two-time CrossFit Games champion, Katrin Davidsdottir.

Dottir is two-time consecutive CrossFit Games Champion Katrin Davidsdottir's inspiring and poignant memoir. As one of only two women in history to have won the title of “Fittest Woman on Earth” twice, Davidsdottir knows all about the importance of mental and physical strength. She won the title in 2015, backing it up with a second win in 2016, after starting CrossFit in just 2011.

A gymnast as a youth, Davidsdottir wanted to try new challenges and found a love of CrossFit. But it hasn't been a smooth rise to the top. In 2014, just one year before taking home the gold, she didn't qualify for the Games. She used that loss as motivation and fuel for training harder and smarter for the 2015 Games. She pushed herself and refocused her mental game. Her hard work and perseverance paid off with her return to the Games and subsequent victories in 2015 and 2016.

In Dottir, Davidsdottir shares her journey with listeners. She details her focus on training, goal setting, nutrition, and mental toughness.

Amazing!

I give Katrin a lot of credit for opening up about herself. Her story inspiring and uplifting. The story of her grandmother really resonated with me since I lost mine around the same time. I would recommend the book to people who are not into CrossFit since a lot of her story is about overcoming adversity. Knowing Crossfit and The Games just gives you some context. Another book I would listen to multiple times. Thank you for sharing your story.

Meh...

I’m a long time fan of Katrin Davidsdottir and when I heard she was coming out with a book I was so excited! I’m still glad I was able to listen to her story but in parts it was not much to listen to.

Loved hearing about Katrin in her own words!

I loved listening to this. It was fast but packed. Katrin did not hold back in talking about successes, failures, pressures, and even unhealthy relationships with other competitors. The awareness and intensity is pretty inspiring. As a huge fan of The CrossFit Games, this was a fun listen.

This made my heart sing!

I am just starting out on my training to compete and this is an amazing motivation. It helps remind me we all start somewhere as well as give some advice on how to get out of the ruts we all experience as humans. Thank you for this wonderful gift, Katrin!

Great for the CrossFit community!

I’ve been doing CrossFit for 10 years now and this was amazing to hear someone I look up to tell their story. Sometimes we get caught up in how people like this aren’t even human, and it’s eye opening to hear they have bad days and struggles and don’t want to train everyday sometimes. It is inspiring to hear where her motivation comes from and how she strives to be the best (not only athlete) but person she can be. Loved it! Recommend.

Inspirational look behind the scenes

I can't believe I waited so long to listen to this book! I was already a big fan of Katrin's, and have proudly called her "MY champ" ever since 2015/2016 because of the commitment, intelligence and (super)human efforts she put into building herself as a person and athlete. I respect her work ethic, her growth and her talent, and seeing it come together live at the European Regionals in 2014 (HELLO handstand walking record!!) and at the Games in 2016 was simply electrifying!! Listening to her story here has made her even more relatable and inspiring, and I have even more to respect her for: her honesty and vulnerability. In addition to giving her perspective on her moments of success, she doesn't shy away from sharing and owning up to those that are less flattering. That's remarkable, especially in this day and age when so many individuals are only comfortable sharing their highlight reels. So thank you for telling your story, Katrin -- with all its many colors!! It was riveting, and real.
