Description
Delve into the history of the sinister Count Dooku in this audio original set in a galaxy far, far away....
Darth Tyranus. Count of Serenno. Leader of the Separatists. A red saber, unsheathed in the dark. But who was he before he became the right hand of the Sith? As Dooku courts a new apprentice, the hidden truth of the Sith Lord’s past begins to come to light.
Dooku’s life began as one of privilege - born within the stony walls of his family’s estate, orbited by the Funeral Moon where the bones of his ancestors lie interred. But soon, his Jedi abilities are recognized, and he is taken from his home to be trained in the ways of the Force by the legendary Master Yoda.
As he hones his power, Dooku rises through the ranks, befriending fellow Jedi Sifo-Dyas and taking a Padawan of his own, the promising Qui-Gon Jinn - and tries to forget the life that he once led. But he finds himself drawn by a strange fascination with the Jedi Master Lene Kostana, and the mission she undertakes for the Order: finding and studying ancient relics of the Sith, in preparation for the eventual return of the deadliest enemies the Jedi have ever faced.
Caught between the world of the Jedi, the ancient responsibilities of his lost home, and the alluring power of the relics, Dooku struggles to stay in the light - even as the darkness begins to fall.

A great audio drama
I love the High Republic stories, and this one is a really important addition. It is set after Cavan Scott’s The Rising Storm events, so be sure to read it before listening to Tempest Runner. The acting is awesome and the story is clearly impressive, it adds a lot of meaning to some characters and even to the lore. I sure hope we will have more audio dramas set in the High Republic era in the future!

Great dive into their back stories
thought it was great, really enjoyed the voice performances and was a good story fleshing out Dooku's tragic but somewhat understandable journey to the dark side.

Good but missed potential.
First off this book is enjoyable and is an interesting look into the life of Dooku pre Clone Wars Era. But it did feel a little rushed. It’s only a six hour book. So a lot of the scenes lack the depth and detail of most other Star Wars books. Goes from conflict to resolution in a few minutes leaving a lot to be desired. But it’s a small complaint for an otherwise interesting listen.
One important note. There’s a lot of screaming (seriously a lot lol) by the various voice actors in this book. And can be piercing to the ears. Volume is up to hear the dialogue clearly then you get blasted with screams that make you want to rip out your headphones. Just a heads up.

Decent Audio Drama!
Dooku: Jedi Lost was a worthwhile distraction during my daily commute, however being unfamiliar with the various animated Star Wars series put me at a bit of a disadvantage. I was familiar with Dooku from his appearances in the two prequel movies. Knowing beforehand that his personal history was being uncovered by a Sith assassin Asajj Ventress, my first reaction was "who?" I thought this might have been a good jumping-on point, and while it's easy listening, it's also not incredibly newbie-friendly. If you're curious about Dooku's past as a Jedi, this will certainly help fill in the gaps. If, like me, you're only familiar with the live-action Star Wars films and a handful of the new cannon books, you'll probably be lost by all the unfamiliar names and history connecting characters you've never heard of. If you're familiar with the Clone Wars cartoons, though, you'll probably have an easier go of this than I did.
As far as the voice talents go, the performances are all pretty solid across the board. Del Rey always puts together good narrators and immersive audio elements like sound effects and a musical score, and this is no different. My only complaint is, particularly when they were portrayed as young padawans, Dooku and his friend, Sifo-Dyas sounded awfully similar and I often couldn't tell who was speaking.
I did find myself missing the usual narrative elements and exposition from a typical audiobook. There were a number of elements I would have liked to have had explored deeper, but the story was constricted by the choice of format. That said, I certainly wouldn't mind future Star Wars audio dramas.

A great dive into Dooku's life!
Biggest and pretty much only complaint; Dooku's Voice actor was poorly cast. sounds Nothing like him. really made me cringe at first, but then you get used to it and once you do, the book takes on a life of its own. the great dive into his formative years, he's relationship with many of the influential people in and outside the Jedi order all leading up to the moment when he decides to leave the order for good. Just what the doctor ordered after master and Apprentice. make this your next book!

Great first audio drama
This story greatly expands everything we know about Dooku and his backstory. It’s essentially an origin story. I wish more of it wasn’t told through recordings as the vocal effects get old after a while. The story feels somewhere between a clone wars episode and Harry Potter. I know that sounds strange but you will understand. While they barely reference each other, this was a great follow up to Master and Apprentice. Overall a really solid experiment. I hope they make more of these.

Cannon Sstar Wars at it's best.
Hope more Star Wars cannon is put into this format. Many of the cast are ones I've heard, or heard of before, others, not so, Felt like a movie in my head. Amazing origin story for Dooku, and others.

An Unexpected Surprise
Very good story with solid acting. my only gripe is the actor who played Dooku. His voice was similar to the other actors and it made it hard to tell who was who sometimes. Overall I enjoyed it though.

Amazing story and phenomenal voice acting.
absolutely loved the story, and the point of view of each and every character. the voice acting was phenomenal , it was almost like I was watching a TV show. would definitely recommend, especially after reading master and Apprentice. There are a lot of parts that reference that book and it's amazing to see those connections.

Disappointing
Overall, a bit weak and disappointing.
When I heard that it was performed by a full cast, I was excited. And the full cast includes the three best Star Wars narrators: Jonathan Davis, Marc Thompson and January Lavoy. Unfortunately, it did not work well. At times the men’s voices were so similar that it was difficult to tell who was speaking. And because it was performed instead of “read”, there was very little narration, so the story seemed a bit thin. I’m not sure whether the book is written like a novel or a script. The audiobook gives the impression of the latter.
The editing and production were not great. In parts, the cuts between characters was a bit abrupt, and the acoustics were different. It lost any illusion and became obvious that they were recording their parts separately in a studio.
Finally, I find some of the backstories a bit weak and unsatisfying, and sadly, this was one. I wasn’t a fan of the way it was written, the way it unfolded or the limited character development.
Ultimately, just thin and disappointing.
Too bad.

Not what I expected
Dooku has a voice that is unique and they couldn't even match the voice from the movies which to me made this audiobook not worth the credits. I wanted more details on how he met the emperor and was lured by him. I hope they make an actual audiobook with more of his story. Very disappointed!

It was okay...
Performance was good, story was meh. I didn't like when the characters would describe themselves doing something in the first person. That was weird, and made some scene very slow it less enjoyable.

WOW! Absolute Empfehlung.
