    Description

You are about to discover how to scale the process of creating, deploying and running applications by unlocking the full power of the best containerization systems, Docker and Kubernetes!

Now, more than ever, the need for containerization has never been higher, as more and more applications are being built on different platforms, operating systems and computers with different settings…

How can developers and system admins ensure that the applications do not ‘misbehave’ or malfunction because of a difference in settings, operating systems and such?

The secret is in leveraging the power of containerization.

And what better way to unleash this power of containerization than to use the leading containerization systems to support you throughout the process of developing/creating, deploying and running applications on multiple devices - Kubernetes and Docker!

By virtue that you are reading this, it is likely that you’ve heard a lot of good things about containerization being the answer to many of the problems you may be experiencing as a developer or systems admin and want to explore the world of containerization before going all in on one containerization system and are probably wondering:

What’s the difference between Docker and Kubernetes?

What unique benefits can you expect from containerization?

How are they different from virtual machines?

How can you implement Docker, Kubernetes, and containerization in general in your application development life cycle?

What are the dos and don’ts of adopting containerization systems?

If you have these and other related questions, this two-in-one book is for you, so keep reading.

    You will learn:

    • The basics of containerization, including what it is, what it entails, the need for containerization, how containers work and much more
    • The ins and outs of container images, including various types of container images and how to build container images
    • A comprehensive introduction to Docker swarm mode, including how the mode works, how to set up the swarm mode, manage nodes and deploy to swarm
    • How to effectively manage Docker from the cloud
    • Making the most of Docker compose
    • The ins and outs of container orchestration
    • The ins and out of zero downtime deployment
    • Zero downtime deployment of Docker containers
    • Volume and system management in Docker
    • The ins and outs of Docker networking
    • Basics of Kubernetes, including what it is, what it does, how it differs from Docker, the lingo used in Kubernetes, more...
    • How to set up with Kubernetes
    • How to leverage the power of scheduling on Kubernetes
    • The ins and outs of POD on Kubernetes
    • A comprehensive introduction to external and inner services in Kubernetes
    • How to secure Kubernetes
    • Deploying your application inside Kubernetes
    • And much more...

Indeed, containerization is slowly changing the way smart developers and system admins do things. You too should not be left behind.

Even if you feel inadequate or unprepared to venture into the world of containerizing your applications, this book’s step-by-step, beginner friendly approach will see you enter the world of containerization knowing what you are really doing!

    Don’t wait!

    Reads like an owners manual

The content of this book feels like you're reading the official low-level project documentation, not like the immersive read that you would expect from a commercially produced instructional guide. To make matters worse, the content isn't tied together very well, and there are some erratic transitions between high-level explanations and low-level technical definitions. The narrator has a decent voice, but is very impassionate about the subject, and doesn't seem to know the field very well—he's often spelling out words that he should be pronouncing.

Also, the other reviews on this book are dubious at best. There are duplicate reviews between this and other Kubernetes titles. Go check it out.

The whole thing feels like a big AI experiment. I'm honestly wondering how many real humans were involved in the authoring, narrating, and reviewing of this work, and starting to loose my confidence in audible...

The audiobook explains the structures and concept

The audio book explains the structures and concepts, most importantly, the intentions clearly, which very important for Kubernete's newbies like me. It did that better than the official docs.

I highly prefer this audio guidebook for everyone

Kubernetes’s architecture makes use of various concepts and abstractions. Some of these are variations on existing, familiar notions but others are specific to Kubernetes.
