Interesting Suspenseful Romance

The story sucked me in and kept me interested but the narrator's voice was kind of monotone and showing little emotion. I would have enjoyed it more with a different narrator.

The plot is pretty good and I really enjoyed the story line but Aubrey was a pretty dense character. I don't usually like heroines that are so weak and easily duped. Not sure why someone would let their ex boyfriend move in when they don't even like him. Emerson had no redeeming qualities. He was rude, inconsiderate, unaffectionate, and was always gone. On top of that, she knew he used drugs.

Tate's story was sad and he is such a decent guy. I really liked him as a main character. He is more patient and understanding than any guy I have ever met.

I enjoyed the HEA conclusion and the bad guys getting what they deserved.

I'm looking forward to reading more books by this talented author. Hopefully her next heroine will be smarter & stronger.

Outstanding

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, the story is compelling and well developed. if not for the slow voice of the narrator I would give it five stars all around. It draws you in and keeps you listening even though the narrator puts you to sleep and you have to rewind. Do not by any means listen to it while driving. Talking about distracted driving.

What other book might you compare Derailed to and why?

I don't think it has one. This is a good story on it's own.

What aspect of Ann Simmons’s performance would you have changed?

I would have changed the narrator. her voice is too soft and flowing and almost monitone to deliver this powerful book.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes, when Tate got the letter that inspired him to return and fulfill not only his late wife's dream but the h dream also.

There was a lot to like here. Tate, for one. He was patient, hot and devoted. The story concept and execution for another. Most of it kept me guessing, and I like that. A couple things were predictable, or rather, obvious before revealed.

There were also things not to like. I can't say that I hated Aubrey, but she really was slow on the draw. Really. The ending happened fast considering it's weight, and the epilogue contained a lot more information than necessary, even though it was all good.

The narrator's voice was slow and seemed a bit "old." She totally failed at the sex talk. But she definitely has good intonation, just didn't work for this book.

I'll raise one THUMB UP!

disappointing!

I got this book based on the great reviews, but I was so very disappointed and bored through most of the book. The narrator was too monotone, but I really think the story was just flat. The male lead was ok for the most parts. The female lead was pathetic and I just kept wanting to reach out and shake her.

Very beautiful love story! Also a story of fulfilling a promise & keeping a promise!! It is also how to overcome physicals & making dreams come true!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would like to read more books by this author.

What other book might you compare Derailed to and why?

I enjoyed the story line and characters. The female lead, Aubrey was pretty naive given what she knew about her ex-boyfriend and still welcomed him back in her life, even though she didn't seem to like him very much. I imagine this was due to her low self esteem.

The male lead, Tate was an absolutely perfect man, very loving and understanding (wish I had run into him!).

Which scene was your favorite?

The drug bust scene was my favorite.

I stayed up to listen how it turned out!

What did you like best about this story?

I loved see from both main characters perspectives, I was able to really know what they both were thinking and feeling for each other.

Learning about Tate’s past was really sad, I didn’t cry but it definitely made me care for him more.

Excellent Story

I couldn't seem to put it down, always wanting to know what happened next. I'm glad Tate was able to learn to love again. I'm also glad Aubrey found out the truth about her housemates and was able to forgive. HEA to this book was excellent.

Weak heroine.

She did the best she could with the material she had. A weak plot cant be saved ,even by a good narration.

It was not my favorite audiobook

I was given a copy of the book in exchange for a an honest review. I expected to really enjoy the book. Unfortunately the dialogue was stilted and sounded like the author is not a native English speaker. The formality of the characters' words pulled me from the storyline frequently and many words used seemed as though they were pulled from the thesaurus. The plot was good, and with better editing, the dialogue could be also. When speaking, most people use contractions but the book's characters rarely do.
