Critiques

"Clancy's latest novel traces the financial, political, military, and personal machinations that drive America into the next major global war.... a shocker climax so plausible you'll wonder why it hasn't yet happened. ( Entertainment Weekly)

Narrator not so great

I love Clancy books, but this Narrator is too robotic. Doesn't even sound human to me.

Debt of Honor

Do NOT listen to this book while driving!!!!!!!!! This is a GREAT book, the narrator sucks, this guy had to be hired to do the computer voice for my Co-Pilot Truck GPS program.

I would have enjoyed Jack Sondericker or Scott Brick as a narrator, a Tom Clancy book deserves better............

WORSE READING/PERFORMANCE EVER!

As I drive a lot I love audible books. I have over 200 titles and must say this is THE READING ON THIS IS HORRIBLE. It sounds like a bad computer voice and often does run on sentences (no pause between sentences or paragraphs as most every reader in the world would do).

The story is classic Clancy. I have read all his books years ago and love them. I was going to listen to them in order but can't finish this one due to performance.

Bottom line is this book needs to be re-done as it is not up to Audible or Clancy standards....

Vintage Clancy - Deserves a Better Narrator

Having read and enjoyed the book when it first came out in hardcover, I've just been waiting for the unabridged audible edition. I'm not sure I'll be able to stand the monotone narration for 36 hours. It's the worst I've ever heard.

computer generated voice

The engineer that produced this should be taken out and shoot. I can not believe
that this is the voice of a real person narrating. I just could not listen longer than the first chapter. A real waste of time and money.

DEBT OF HONOR

The story as always is outstanding. The recording is the worst I have ever heard. If you ever wondered how a book would sound if it was read by a computer this is it.. The speed is so slow I thought I had it on my IPhone at half speed when I checked I was listening to my IPOD. I have donwloaded over 200 books and this would be the first time I asked for a refund. Save your money until they fix their mistake.

Great Story, Terrible Narration

Make sure you listen to the audio sample before buying this audiobook. It's very monotone and robotic. I enjoyed the story but it would have been much more enjoyable with a better narrator.

Excellent story, bad sound, bad narrator

I almost stopped listening to this in the first two hours, but stuck it out, and the story was worth it, honestly. However, those first two hours...like listening to human Valium. I don't know which to blame: the engineering, or the narrator, but whichever is responsible...it is one of the worst sounding audiobooks I have ever listened to.

Poor narration

If you like Michael Prichard you won't like this one. Hard to follow, monotone, almost computer generated, poor inflection.

Bad Sound Engineering

It is not the narrator's fault that this sounds like a monotone robot. This is a bad transfer. It sounds like they recorded it at one speed, then slowed it down so that many words are now slurred and drawn out. Also I feel that the "robot" problem is also from the transfer, by clipping off the upper and lower ranges of the sound pitches, it now sounds artificial in a lot of places.

Sehr schade!
Mein persönliches Fazit - in Zukunft erst die Hörprobe benutzen !

Terrible reader, OK story

Not Clancy's best story, but absolutley ok.
But John MacDonald kills it. At times he sounds like a bot. Especially when he tries to speak with an New England accent. Dialog loses all nuance, as he speaks in a monotone fashion and ignores punctuation.
My recommendation would be to get the book and read it yourselves, but don't waste your money on this audio book.

it started slow but than got great

worst thing is the speaker he really doesn't do a good job. he has a great voice tough but only one. so every persons sounds alike and I am positive that due to that some voices are slowed down. they sound drunk and wenn you increase speed at these passages to 1,10 or so they sound normal again.

Fake accents

The accent given to the congressman is ridiculous. Had to turn off the recording several times because I could no longer stand it.

Boring, extremely long winded

Wie hat der Erzähler das Buch beeinflusst?

The narrator seemed to suffer from a serious cold as ha was reading the script. Nearly no change in voice, no tension, no emotion. Not nice to listen to. That makes an endless story even worse.

Listen to it as a tranquilizer before you go to bed. That's gonna do the job :-)

einfach top
