    Dark Night of the Soul

I just listened to Dark Night of the Soul on Audible as well as followed the story via whispersync. I love doing this because as much as I love to listen to my books. I like to follow along with the written version too.

Helene’s sister Simone has seizures and needs medicine to keep the seizures at bay. She was going to run out of the medicine before light. Night is when bad things happen but what was Helene to do. She needed to go out to get Simone’s life saving meds. And, bad things happen. Helene is taken, gets rescued only to find out that she has been taken again. She is then given to Gabriel, “the mysterious ruler of the city”. What’s to become of her and more importantly her sister, Simone?

Helene goes from silent to sassy. Gabriel strikes a deal with Helene. Her cooperation so Simone will get her very important medication.

I mostly listen on my Kindle using the “text to speech” feature. That said, it isn’t the best way to listen to a book. I have gotten used to it and can mainly know that there will be mispronounced words. It is of course WAY better to be able to listen to a human reading the story. It is a treat when I listen to a human narrator! There are actually inflections and you can feel the angst. It is palpable at times.

I really enjoyed the audible version narrated by Addison Barnes. This is the first book that I have listened to by this narrator but not the first book written by Kitty Thomas! I love her writing.

    So good!

I love this book, it’s one of my favorites. Listening to it in audio form was magical and Addison Barnes was awesome, first time I listened to a book she narrated was Trust Game by Kitty Thomas. Love this author and narrator!

    Two sides to a story

So this book is very much a 2 sides to a story. You get the story from the female MC but every thing seems to be in the Male MC favor. It isn't until the classic twist at the end that Kitty Thomas is so known for that you get a glimpse of the flip side to the story.

I really love this narrator. I have listened to her many time with This authors work and she is really good at bringing the story to life. I don't really have moments where I lose the story. Which I really enjoy.

    Love It!

"Dark Night of the Soul" is one of my all-time favorite books, so when I found out it was being released to audible I knew I had to have it. I was not disappointed. The narrator is perfect and the story, as always, is enthralling. Definitely an audiobook I'll be listening to over and over again.

    Sinfully hot!!!

I really enjoyed listening to Dark Night of the Soul. Kitty was right when she said it gave you the purge meet vampire feel. The way their world works with night lasting 1,000 hours and not very safe to be out in. Helene was taken right when day turned to night and she didn't fight it. Gabriel found it odd that Helene wasn't like other humans who were brought there against their will. She was a damaged soul in need of saving and little did she know he was her savior. Gabriel and Helene were a perfect match for each other. The chemistry between these two ignited and no one could come between that. I highly recommend listening or reading this book!!

    Such a great story

I loved the theme of this story. Once you start, your not going to want to stop listening to it because it really draws you in. I love Helene (the main character) as equally as I loved Gabriel (the villain?). The characters are very 3D with a lot of depth. I’d recommend this book to everyone who loves dark romance (not that dark).

Dark paranormal story with BDSM theme

I read this book quite some time ago so this time listen to listen to the audible version it gave me a whole new dynamic to the story.

This is a book set in a world where night & day are days long not hours long and the world has been segregated into area run by vampires. Each area is run in a different way and as a result different experience for the humans who call that area home. We follow the life of Helene who along with her sister are trying to survive on their own with no parents and only themselves.

Gabriel is the king vampire who rules over the area Helene lives and through unfortunate circumstances she ends up stuck outside as day rolls into night and in her area , that usually means death for humans, but she then ends up captive in Gabriel’s home.

The narrator Addison Barnes did an amazing job and provided the perfect level of angst to her voice to do real justice to how Helene feels thru the book.

I loved Gabriel, he holds a difficult and complex position and has a great responsibility to keep the world functioning in a way that allows vampires to co-exist with humans without giving away the knowledge of them.

Towards the end of the book Helene’s inner debate about her feelings for Gabriel did start to grate, she seems to flip flop so easily I wanted her to just make up her kid and get in with it , which eventually she did.

I would actually love to read or listen to another story about these characters , so much to explore in this world but I suspect it was a one and done unless they visit Kitty again with a new story.

If you love Kitty’s books or even if you read this in the past , listening to it on audio is a whole other sensory pleasure you should not miss.
