Description

Stone Barrington is caught in the web of a national smuggling operation in the latest action-packed thriller from the number one New York Times best-selling author.

Stone Barrington is getting some much-needed rest and relaxation in the Florida sun when trouble falls from the sky - literally. Intrigued by the suspicious circumstances surrounding this event, Stone joins forces with a sharp-witted and alluring local detective to investigate. But they run into a problem: The evidence keeps disappearing.

From the laid-back Key West shores to the bustling Manhattan streets, Stone sets out to connect the dots between the crimes that seem to follow him wherever he travels. His investigations only lead to more questions, and shocking connections between old and new acquaintances. But as Stone must quickly learn, answers - and enemies - are often hiding in plain sight....

Completely ridiculous.

Stone gets laid five times a day. Dino has unlimited vacation time and travels with Stone throughout. Pompous Stuart Woods laughs all the way to his jet.

I love Stone and Stuart Woods .. this is not my favorite book

Here's what happens; Stone and Dino and Viv on a boat relaxing. Stone nude under strategically placed towel. Sea Plane crashes near boat, Stone jumps in to save pilot. 911 called - helicopter and rescue diver appear - pilot taken away - diver stranded on boat. Diver pretty woman who happens to be wearing and bikini under gear, also a police officer. Meets nude Stone. Surprise they have sex. The plane disappears, the police woman, with off handed help from Stone, Dino and bunch of their network of people, works the case. Her Aunt dies she inherits money and neat stuff. Dino seems to question Stones loyalty along with that of wife Viv. Stones back in NY. Meets beautiful woman who claims kinship to Vance Calder. She needs a divorce lawyer, married to she says a gambler who she supports .. Stone recommends Herbie.. because well sex. Husband killed. The two women meet because the plots intersect. Dino helps Stone see the rotten apple. One woman helps bring the other down. I love Stuart Woods. I've very likely read everything he's written. Before and during writing his separate series he's written several one off books. I loved Chiefs (which turned out to be about a relative of Will Lee) The Will Lee series, Holly Barker series, the one off about Rick Barron (the book that introduced Centurion Studios), I find Teddy Fay aka whoever he wants to be an awesome character. I love Stone and Dino and Viv, even Herbie managed to wiggle into my heart a bit. I really love that Woods has intersected my favorites into Stones world. I am sometimes disappointed with the Stone series. I used to wish for more than one or two a year - now it seems that a book a quarter can mean the quality isn't consistent. In my opinion the weaker the plot the more sex Stone has and the more women he gets involved with. He's always been written as a ladies man - everything from serious relationships to threesomes. A Heavy plot means one woman or no women .. well it's only my opinion.

Not much to like about this one.

I am not a fan of this narrator at all. As an audio book I count this a complete failure. As for the story and content of this book, I found nothing to like. I have felt like the series had been declining and this one hit rock bottom. The main theme is sex with too much description. If you take out the sex, this would barely be a short story, and not a very good one at that. I have read all the Stone Barrington books but this will be the last one. Not even tempted to waste any time or money in the futile hope of a better book.

Wasted Credit

Weak, weak story. Barrington is boring and predictable. Do not bother reading or listening unless you are just a totally avid Woods or Barrington fan.

Worst book ever

I love the storyline but just when you get into it Stone Berrington get laid again, I'm sick in tired of listening to one of his books that you hear more about him getting laid than the actual mystery suspense of the book

Stuart Woods is not as good as he used to be

We have become very disappointed in Stuart Woods and his writing. He comes up with a plausible plot but can only flesh it out with sex to fill the required number of words. Also he narrator needs to learn the correct pronunciation of the word "Conch ". As a Floridian I am appalled. This is the last book of his we will be listening to.

Mismatch

Biggest mismatch of a story and a narrator I’ve ever heard. The narrator sounds like he should be doing nursery rhymes or children’s books instead of thriller fiction stories. Completely unlistenable

Wow

Every book in this series contains Stone having sex with multiple women. This one was over the top. Way too much.

weak

How can Stone & Maxx search Robbie's dwelling without a warrant? Herb will get her off (inadmissible). It was a let down.
