Description

He can't have her. And he can't tell anyone why.

Ski racer Dane "Danger" Hollister does not do relationships, though he keeps his reason a secret. The real-life curse he's inherited from his mother will eventually cost him everything: his place on the Olympic ski team, his endorsement income, and his ability to fly downhill at top speed.

Reluctant country girl Willow Reade meets Dane by accident. Literally. Her skidding truck forces him off the road during a blizzard. Stranded together in his Jeep as night falls, the two loneliest people in Vermont find themselves sharing more than they'd planned. And not just conversation.

Yet neither can guess how their unlikely tryst will threaten Dane's frightening secret and Willow's tentative peace with her own choices. Only mutual trust and understanding can end their pain and give them a hard won shot at love.

I wanted to like this one.

So far I have loved ever Sarina Brown book I’ve read, but this one was a disappointment. I just couldn’t become invested in the male character. He was flat, and unappealing.
Joe Arden did an excellent job on his performance but Maxine Mitchell’s performance made me cringe. The way she emphasized and drew out the end of every sentence was very distracting and irritating.
It’s worth a listen if you adore all of her other books, but If this is your first go at one of her books, I’d pass and choose another. It really doesn’t reflect the perfection of her other stories.

LOVED!

I've read and listened to most of Sarina Bowen's books and I love them all, but I think this may be my favorite. I love the progression of the relationship between Willow and Dane, from when they meet - stranded together on the side of the road during a snowstorm - to the end of the book. I've seen that some people have issues with the characters - for example, the way that Dane acts and the way that Willow is down on herself - but this is a story where both characters have lots of baggage to overcome and some big decisions to make. The ending is great.I love both of these characters and I love what they bring to the story. I love the secondary cast too, including Willow's best friend Callie, who is featured in a later book in this series.

One thing that I especially love about this audiobook is that it is so easy to listen to. There are no instances where I feel like I needed to rewind in order to keep characters straight or re-listen to plot points. The cast is just the right size and the plot is perfectly paced and moves along nicely. I just turned the audiobook on and listened straight through, and that made for a wonderful listening experience for me.

Also: the narrators are great! I especially love Joe Arden as Dane. They both did a great job, but I think Dane's scenes with the bad behavior and bad attitude were voiced particularly well.

Unexpectedly good!

This was an unexpected little jewel of a story. The characters are so well written and the plot is one that keeps you riveted. I had not read anything by this author before this, but I'm going to be looking for more of her work for sure! Narration by two awesome narrators, Maxine Mitchell and Joe Arden make this audiobook a delight to listen to.

Heartwarming and Soulful

I loved the story and the audiobook is amazing. Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell are great narrators, and they portray Dane and Willow perfectly. I love listening to Sarina Bowen’s audiobooks because they’re all great, and this one is worth listening to.

I love everything Sarina Bowen has ever written. She’s an extraordinary storyteller and a talented writer, and she proves it time and time again with every new book. This one is certainly not new—it’s basically an oldie—but it’s wonderful all the same.

There are so many things I love about Sarina Bowen’s writing. Her words are magic, and I always feel them deep in my soul. Every single time. She’s gifted in so many ways, but my favorite is her ability to make me laugh and cry at the same time.

I love the way she has of telling a story, and how much I actually care about her characters—as if they’re friends I’ve known forever. I want to move to the Vermont she brings to life in my mind and never leave. I love how her characters are sweet and hot, but also feel like real people with real feelings and flaws and problems.

This book is part of a three book series but each one is a complete standalone. And all of them are not only beautiful, but heartbreaking, soulful and emotional and so, so good.

Coming In From the Cold is a beautiful story about love and loss. Dane Hollister and Willow Reade are two wounded souls that find each other in an extraordinary situation—two strangers stranded together in a snowstorm—and form an immediate connection. Their chemistry is off-the-charts explosive and the attraction between them is overpowering, so of course they end up sharing more than just conversation.

Dane is hiding a secret, a life-defining circumstance that prevents him from living his life to the fullest and pursuing a relationship with Willow—or anyone else in his life. Willow has been abandoned by her boyfriend in a difficult situation, with no money and in a strange place, lonely but determined to make the best of it. They part ways after the storm, but life brings them together again in a way that forces Dane to confront his secret, but also threatens to break them apart forever.

Instant attraction is usually complicated because most of the time it feels forced and shallow. I like that in this particular story that’s not the case at all. Both Dane and Willow have depth and evolve as the story progresses, and their back stories provide explanations for their feelings and actions. The instant attraction thing is a brilliant way to bring these two together, but it’s not the defining aspect of the story.

Coming In From The Cold is really emotional, heartbreaking at times, and really worth reading. One thing I admire about Sarina Bowen is the way she doesn’t shy away from complicated subjects but faces them straight on, and this book is no exception. I recommend this book, and series, to anyone who loves romance, great writing and meaningful stories.

I'm sick of romance stories like this

I am sick of stories like this one that start out so good then bam she ends up pregnant , why couldn't she end up with a STD or gets into a wreck and gets hurt instead of I'm pregnant..I freaking hate it so much I want to scream.. ahhhh NOT A BAD STORY JUST WISH IT WAS A LITTLE DIFFERENT..

good story but something was missing

I usually love all of Sarina Bowen books but this one seemed to fall below all her others for me, the story was good but it just didn’t keep me hooked like I’m used to. Dane is a ski star while Willow is struggling to keep above water on a chicken farm that she never wanted. They have a chance meeting during a snow storm and the chemistry is there immediately. The story was pretty straight forward as far as romance books go… guy and girl hook up, guy avoids girl, tragedy strikes, drama happens, guy gets head out of his butt. Like I said, it was a good book with good characters but it just wasn’t anything that was really memorable for me.

Maxine Mitchell and Joe Arden are both on my favorite list of narrators and they always do a great job together! Joe can always pull off the moody and brooding characters with a growling voice. Unfortunately Maxine Mitchell’s voice didn’t work well for Willow in my mind. Maxine has a voice that I always associate with tough bada$$ females characters and I just didn’t think that of Willow.

Hot! 4.5 stars.

Wowza. This couple gets it ON when they first meet and are trapped in a car (that’s not a spoiler, it’s in the blurb). And wow, it’s HOT and perfectly blended with enough good “get to know you” stuff first, and emotion, so the early sex in this novel works. Really well. A good build-up to love brews through ups and downs that follow in the story. I really enjoyed this novel and all the emotions. I am surprised I liked this book as much as I did, because this couple was not together long before I wanted them to declare their love for each other (whereas in the real world I’d be saying: “girlfriend, you need to get to know him better!”) It’s all because of the writing which I really enjoy. This is a stand-alone novel, but this couple appear (as minor characters) in the next story in the series Falling From the Sky: Gravity, Book 2, and it is very sweet to see how they are doing living their Happily Ever After.

I read and listened to this on Kindle and Audible (Whispersync). The narrators, Maxine Mitchell and Joe Arden
are wonderful here – I loved their performances.

I liked it!

Dane and Willow are a typical romance couple - as far as the genre goes - but yet compelling. I enjoyed this - and felt the emotions were real and visceral. But Sarina doesn't make you wallow in them. Lovely story overall that appears to be yin and yang finding each other. I enjoyed it - and I listen to ALOT of audio books - and I always look for the book that makes me feel this could be real - and doesn't overemphasize abs and repetitive statements and emotions over and over again. Sarina gives me my hearts desire and a HEA is a must - damn reality! Willow is a sweetheart from the word go and she is trying to pull herself from a lifelong feeling of inadequacy - and Dane - well he has an oppressive history that seems to spell doom at the end of everything - and let's just say that thankfully assumptions are just that. Thanks sarina, i look forward to the next!

Dane and Willow - YES

I've had this audio for a while and now after listening to it, I am thinking why did I wait so long. A really well crafted story with a plot that was and characters I could fall in love with. Perfectly imperfect, both the hero and heroine are lovable in their own way and seeing how their relationship grows, turns into love, how they heal each other and finally their HEA left me with a feel good mood. I need book 2 now.
Well chosen voices, Mr. Arden and Ms. Mitchell gave me the aural experience I love to hear and will stay with me for a while. Love both their voices and how they breathe life in the many characters.

Engaging, sinfully hot & stellar narration

Joe Arden & Maxine Mitchell are basically in their element in this performance. Filled with angsty emotions, steamy hot scenes and filled with drama, this audio delivers and checks all the boxes. The writing is solid with very relatable characters that basically find themselves lost within their current situation but as time goes by they find that what they were able to experience with eachother is something worth fighting for. This audio was short but certainly sweet, hot and very well performed. THUMBS UP!!
