For 10,000 years he has furthered the cause of mankind, working under the aegis of the Emperor and Lord Commander Roboute Guilliman to prevent the inexorable march of the alien and the traitor. Description
A Warhammer 40,000 novel
Saint Celestine is one of the greatest heroes of the Dark Imperium, an immortal warrior who returns time and again, even when struck down by a foe, like the Emperor's avenging angel. But what happens when she dies and comes back? Prepare to find out.
Listen to it because
Andy Clark lays bare one of the greatest mysteries of Warhammer 40,000: the trials Saint Celestine must undergo in order to return from death....
The story
With her mighty wings spread wide and Ardent Blade aflame, Saint Celestine is the living embodiment of the God-Emperor’s wrath. Her halo blazes like a star upon the smog-wreathed, blood-soaked battlefields of the 41st Millennium; its holy light leading the faithful to victory time and time again. As heretics and daemons tear at her flesh, she calls down fires of retribution from on high to smite the wicked and unrighteous.
If she is to fall in battle, none should mourn as she is Celestine, the Living Saint, and death is her duty. Though it comes at a great cost. For each time she is slain, Saint Celestine finds herself trapped in a terrible realm of suffering and torment. There her faith in the God-Emperor will be put to the test so she may prove herself worthy of life once more.

Great Story and Narration
I thoroughly enjoyed the story, it even brought tears to my eyes at some points. This is the first audio book I've heard Emma narrate and I'm very impressed by it. Each character had their own voice and wasn't monotone like some books I've heard in the past.

Story goes nowhere and has no depth
This was a struggle to finish. The story has the content of a novella but is lengthened to a full novel without adding any substance. Ended the book knowing as little about the Sisters of Battle as I did when I started. Not recommended.

A fascinating and powerful story
I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook. The narrator was clear and well-spoken, with an appreciable range of voices to distinguish most characters. The story was a fascinating look into one of the most prominent characters in the setting, with plenty of attention given to other characters to show how the Living Saint impacted them. I would highly recommend giving this one a listen.

The Internal Experience of the Despairing Believer
The book does well to explain the resurrection experience of the living saint. This is the main lore revelation. The main focus of the narrative is on how the individuals within the Imperium reconcile their horrible reality with their belief in the Emperor. If you enjoy the contemplation of faith and belief then you will be riveted. This would also be a great opportunity for a philosophical conversation among fellow 40k enthusiasts. The book was bland for me as I enjoy 40k mainly for lore and the larger themes. A nuanced struggle with faith and belief isn’t what I try to draw from the universe. This has been why I avoided books regarding the living saints for so long.
TLDR
It’s a good book but not for me. That’s why I gave 3 stars.

Finally lore about the premiere living saint. But..
It was a treat to finally hear about the living saint and finally get the lore and implied lore through her eyes. The fight/battle scenes were okay a lot could have been better. However the climax of the story was super disappointing considering her past achievements (poor pay off). Worth your time!
