Description

Wear the mask. It will come off in the morning.

When a young man from a village comes to the big city to study, he finds himself overwhelmed by the urban lifestyle. But will he manage to blend in by going to a Halloween party, when his crush asks him to help decorate the place, when the abandoned villa becomes all too spooky for him and when the illusory masks everyone wears seem to never come off?

What a bad trip must be like

This wasn't the story I was expecting but was really happy for that. Didn't expect the futuristic twist to the story but it worked really well and I really enjoyed it. Would love to see a story like this made into a short show like Tales From the Darkside or Tales From the Crypt.

I loved the writing style and for a 30 minute story you really get a lot out of it. Narrator did a great job too and his inflections for each character were top notch.

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

Like a lost Twilight Zone TV Show Episode

Saoulidis has never let me down as a storyteller. He comes up with some brilliant concepts, and Boo! is actually a futuristic novel more than a horror story. Some of the ideas he has will one day become a reality without any doubts, most espicially, the way we will scan everything we see, and get feedback instantly as if we had wiki and google in our head.

John York is really fun as the narrator, he really plays himself as the MC, and that makes it pretty realistic. His pacing is great, and the emotions he puts into his narrative are real.

I won't say that you don't know what is coming by the end of the story, but the execution is so good that you do feel like you are watching and episode of the Outer Limits.

Entertaining High Tech Short

I received this audiobook for free in exchange for an unbiased review and was treated to an interesting glimpse into the world of tomorrow. Sure it was short but a lot happened and it left me a little unsettled as subtle horrors often do. Performance was great as well.

Great Little Short Story

This a a great little short story. It does start out slow, but delivers a whoop at the end. It is a story of a Halloween party gone strangely wrong. I was given a copy of this book in exchange for a review.

I liked it, but wanted to love it.

Although John York's voice is pleasurable to listen to I didn't get the animation of characters and edge I wanted out of a horror book from him. Does this mean the narration was bad? Certainly not it just lacked that extra creep factor for me. Now was the book scary? If you view it from the main character's perspective it was. But it didn't give the chills the cover suggested to me. Still, there's a book for everyone and I'm sure some of you will love it. Just because this wasn't a book match for me doesn't mean I won't try another by the same author and narrator in different genre. I was given a free copy of this book at my request and have voluntarily decided to leave this review.

Now THIS is how you do a short story

This is how you write a short story. Very simple premise and exploring its depth instead of its width. Also, terrific atmosphere especially as it ramped up. Very Twilight Zone.

I've read several stories by this author and this is my favorite of them. Keep up the great work.

The narrator was engaging. The only emotions in this story are bored, self-righteous, and scared which could easily bleed into each other -- but this narrator kept them distinct. That couldn't have been easy.

This was exactly the kind of story I've been looking for to get me in the halloween spirit.

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

A wonderful collaboration between author&narrator

My first read/listen from author George Saoulidos was short and enjoyable. I'll definitely read more from him. John Yor's narration made for easy listening.

A good scary short story to keep you up at night. The narrator is good.

A good story but the ending falls flat...

I started out enjoying this book. It was well written, it had a good start and a decent middle, but when I got to the end it all fell apart... Unfortunately, because of how the story ended I felt very unfulfilled and really felt it needed something more.
