Summary
THE NINTH ROOMWhen Dr Lena Harrow enters Room Nine, she expects to find Pearl exactly where she left her.Instead, the room is empty. An elderly patient has disappeared from a private clinic on the edge of the city. No one saw her leave. No one can explain where she went. The records are complete. The procedures were followed. The building continues as though nothing has happened. As the days pass, Lena becomes increasingly unable to accept the quiet disappearance of a woman who seemed to leave so little trace behind her. What begins as a search for answers gradually becomes something deeper: an encounter with loneliness, memory, dignity, and the fragile ways people remain present in the lives of others.Set within the ordered world of a care institution, The Ninth Room is a literary mystery about absence, responsibility, and what it means to keep faith with someone after the rest of the world has stopped looking.Haunting, compassionate, and deeply human, The Ninth Room explores a question that lingers long after the final page:Who remembers the people everyone else has forgotten?©2026 William Gomes (P)2026 William Gomes
