Summary

Ancient wisdom for modern life. This is a liberating and comforting guide to happiness, from the philosopher and founder of @philosophyminis

Drawing on time-tested, ancient Greek wisdom, The Art of Enough offers a new way of thinking about the good life – one that feels lived-in rather than lofty, and sustainable in an age of anxiety and burnout.

Speaking directly to those disillusioned with the culture of relentless hustle, this is a philosophy that is practical as well as profoundly possible.

Thomson’s Epicureanism doesn’t offer us more rainbows to chase or hurdles to jump but gentle, abiding guidance on how to recognise that we already have everything we need to be happy.

‘A breeze and a joy. This book is wonderful, and will make us all Epicureans’ MATT HAIG

So it turns out the most relevant philosopher of our times lived over 2000 years ago, or at least that is how I felt after reading this wonderful book. Jonny Thomson is brilliant because he manages to articulate philosophy clearly but in a way that retains its full meaning. There is no dumbing down, yet it is always a breeze and a joy to read about Epicurean philosophy - the philosophy that explored the idea of what makes a ‘good life’ more than any other. This book is wonderful, and will make us all Epicureans. (Matt Haig)
An overdue fresh look at Epicureanism for the 21st century. It ain't your grandmother's "sex drugs and rock 'n' roll" philosophy anymore! I greatly enjoyed it. (Massimo Pigliucci)
