Calling all explorers of God’s great stories! Join Peter, Mary, and their dog, Hank, in an adventure series from M. J. Thomas, author of the beloved The Secret of the Hidden Scrolls series, as they follow an ancient map to travel back in time to key moments in Biblical history. The Mystery of the Ancient Map: Book #5 The Blazing Furnace is perfect for both new readers and current fans of the Hidden Scrolls books.

Through fast-paced and edge-of-your-seat action, The Mystery of the Ancient Map books teach children Biblical literacy and how to understand and appreciate God and his word through stories of the Bible. The Blazing Furnace is the fifth book in the new Mystery of the Ancient Map series that expands the world of The Secret of the Hidden Scrolls, but it can be thoroughly enjoyed by readers not familiar with Peter, Mary, and Hank’s previous adventures.

When a fire alarm empties Great-Uncle Solomon’s new museum exhibit of visitors, Peter catches the suspicious Dr. Mendax alone with his adventure bag—and is more certain than ever that he’s really The Collector in disguise. While firefighters clear the building, Peter and Mary follow the ancient map into the tunnels beneath the Temple Mount, uncover a new hidden scroll, and are swept back to ancient Babylon where they meet Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. These three young men are determined to stay true to God no matter the cost, but when King Nebuchadnezzar orders everyone to bow to a golden statue or be thrown into a blazing furnace, Peter and Mary must decide where their own loyalty lies—even as they race to solve the secret of the scroll before the flames are lit.

The Blazing Furnace:

• Follows the events of Daniel 3.
• Reminds readers that, like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, they are called to love God with all their heart, mind, soul, and strength.
• Is the fifth book in a chapter book series perfect for readers ages 6-9.
• Includes illustrations throughout, bringing all the action and adventure to life.
• Is a great gift for readers who love The Magic Tree House and I Survived series.
