THE BLACKSMITH is a post-apocalyptic, speculative dystopian thriller novel on the surface. Underneath, it’s a story about war, grief, survivor's guilt, love, faith, sacrifice, and redemption.Sixty-two-year-old Jeremiah Pratt is a veteran of the Great Civil War, and despite decades of combat, he has no scars. But not all wounds are on the outside. In the ruins of North America, powerful security corporations rule through force, and ammunition is the only currency that matters. When a relic from Jeremiah's past resurfaces, he is drawn into one final war against SPARTAN—a corporate military regime built around elite operatives who wield a lethal telepathic gift known as the Silent Voice.Told across two converging timelines, The Blacksmith follows Jeremiah's flight from the war that broke him and his present-day attempt to sabotage an abandoned U.S. facility before SPARTAN can seize it and turn it into an instrument of control. But Jeremiah's mission is about more than vengeance. His entire life has been leading toward a purpose he doesn't yet understand. When his path crosses with Josiah Morris, a preacher's son with a raw and uncontrollable power of his own, Jeremiah realizes that the sacrifices of his past may have been preparing him for one final act:saving a boy who could shatter the existing order—and change the future of a continent.©2017 Joshua T Owens (P)2026 Joshua T Owens Action & Adventure Adventure Genre Fiction Science Fiction War & Military
