Description

Brent Mason and Hayden Winstead can't stand each other. She plans exclusive parties for her rich family's charities; he's a rough-and-tumble cop who rigs explosives for a living. Could two people be any less suited for conversation? They think not and prefer to keep it that way.

Unfortunately, their two best friends are deeply, disgustingly in love. Forced together, the mutual attraction simmering beneath the surface of Brent and Hayden's non-relationship grows with every argument until it explodes into a scintillating night of mind-blowing sex. And it won't be the last, as far as Brent is concerned.

Hayden has a secret, though. Her father's company is relying on a merger to save them from financial ruin, and only Hayden's marriage to the CEO's wealthy son can secure the deal. If she's to protect her family, she'll have to forget about Brent - and he has no intention of being forgotten.

Asking for Trouble.

Good start for Brent and Hayden coming from two different backgrounds. One from high class soecity and the other from middle class. But with that much difference work their way to the many difference and coming to an understanding that love brings great things into their lives and the mistakes of their families will no define theirs.

One of my fav books read by the wrong narrator

I’m prob more critical because this is one of my favorite books by this author. At best, narrator was mediocre. Had to stop listening 1 minute into Chapter 2. I couldn’t take it.

The narrator occasionally has a sibilant speaking voice. The “sh” sounds in place of an “s” sound makes it feel like the book is being read by an older aunt, which is weird because there are sexy scenes right in the beginning.

Based on just a few minutes, I think there could’ve been better quality control on the recording. There were times where the narrator tried to slide through a mistake. She should’ve just re-recorded the segment. In other places, it’s as if the narrator stopped mid-sentence and then continued on as if there were no pause. Again, just re-record the segment. Those kinds of mistakes on the recording are jarring and distracting.

What in the hell?

The narrator’s voice! Omg. It is quite literally the worst performance I’ve ever heard. Distracting? Understatement of the year. Sweetheart, NO ONE talks the way you spoke for this book. I’m all for enunciation and speaking clearly but when it detracts from the story because it sounds like a speech impediment? Not ok. I really liked the story though!!!!

Jersey Shore

Enjoyed the story, though the main thread through out was a young woman trying to connect with her mother by making life decisions that would please the bitter woman, which was a bit annoying.
My main problem was with the narrator. It might be that a Jersey accent is common, but he sounded like an actor using an exaggerated accent to audition for Jersey Shore. I considered returning, but gritted my teeth and was able to finish.

Graphic sex scenes, not suitable for young readers.

I know that these are not comedy but .....

I get a kick out of the situations and banter these characters get up to. Yes these are romances and they have some steam but the interplay between all involved make them worth a listen. I recommend Tessa Bailey and her in the line of duty series. Can't wait to start the crossing the line series.

Love the Series

Fun, sexy, and engaging characters with sassy dialogue and good friends. What more could a girl ask for? Hope this helps.

2 ½ stars. I did not like the plot and conflicts.

But parts were good.

My main problem was heroine stupidity. Twice she did something I couldn’t buy. In one of them someone does something bad to Brent and frames Hayden. When Brent confronts Hayden, she is surprised but does not deny it. She leaves him because he believed the evidence instead of trusting her. And then she does something unbelievable.

But I enjoyed the sex scenes.

I really liked the author’s first book “Protecting What’s His.”

The audiobook narrator Alice Chapman was fine.

Genre: contemporary romance

Tessa Bailey can do no wrong

Asking For Trouble is another awesome addition to the Line of Duty series. The passion in the love/hate relationship between Brent and Hayden was fantastic.

Alice Chapman isn't my favorite narrator, but she did a pretty good job voicing all the parts.
