Description

A licensed marriage and family therapist and YouTube personality, Kati Morton answers the most commonly asked questions about mental health, including when to get help and where to find it.

Everyone struggles with mental health issues from time to time, but the greatest level of misunderstanding comes from knowing the difference between mental health and mental illness, figuring out whether we need professional help and, if so, how to find it. Are u ok? walks listeners through the most commonly asked questions about mental health and the process of getting help. From finding the best therapist to navigating harmful and toxic relationships and everything in between, licensed marriage and family therapist and YouTube sensation Kati Morton clarifies and destigmatizes the struggles so many of us go through, and encourages listeners to reach out for help. What are the red flags of a mental health issue? How do you go about making a first therapy appointment? How do you know if your therapist is a good fit for you? What are the best ways of talking about mental health with your family, friends and colleagues? There are so many questions and concerns, and in the down-to-earth, friendly tone that makes Kati Morton so popular on YouTube, Are u ok? informs and reminds us that we can get through the difficult times and we are never alone.

An Excellent Guide to the Mental Health Industry

My sister has psychosis, depression, and anxiety. It's been difficult to help her because I've had no idea what to expect from the mental health industry. This book changed all that. I now know the difference between a phychiatrist and a psychologist, among many other professionals. I have also learned more about warning signs and how to support those who are struggling. Most of all, I've learned that mental health issues affect everyone and there's no shame in needing your own help (even if you aren't struggling with a diagnosable mental illness). This is a fantastic book. I would highly recommend everyone read this, even if you don't know anyone who has a mental illness.

Life changing.

This book came at a perfect time in my life. When this song came out , my anxiety was at its highest to the point where I had su****** thoughts. I was seeing a therapist for the time time and opening up about my anxieties and depression. It really helped me understand myself a little bit more. I really enjoyed it and i’d recommend it to anyone! ❤️

Highly recommend it♥️

Being raised by old school Mexican parents and me having old school Mexican tendencies. I never believed in anxiety or panic attacks. Until one day my depression got really bad I was drinking a Starbucks drink that day. I felt really weird. It triggered my vertigo which gave me really bad anxiety. I thought the drink caused it. I thought I was being drugged. My husband told me I was having a panic attack. He hold me and calmed me. Due to my food disorder I haven’t had that drink again. I don’t like to stress my husband about my depression and my weird crazy food disorder. I’m still trying to figure it out. I don’t really have friends to talk about it and I’ve been figuring it out on my own... do I even need help or what kind of therapist do I need and this book has been very helpful for me. I highly recommend it to anyone who doesn’t know where to start they’re healing journey♥️

The perfect beginners guide!!

As a therapist myself, I often struggle to find appropriate mental health books for clients that are simple to understand and straightforward. I will be recommending this book to friends, family, and clients for years to come. Thank you for your hard work Kati, and thank you for your beautiful energy.

Loved this!

Absolutely loved this book and everything about it. As a person with anxiety and a high stress job, living in a high stress time I have considered therapy several times but always chicken out. This book told me what to expect, what to look for, and helped me figure out what I need. i also have been considering going back to school to do something psych related and this book helped me understand different aspects of therapy. Recommended this book to several family and friends. Also I love that she reads it herself because everything comes across just the way I assume she would want it to.

Great Read

Great book for the therapist and client! Real, not overly intellectual but not too easy.

I have PTSD, MDD, BPD, GAD. I found this book covers it all

I take 3 antipsychotics medications and have been going to therapy for almost a year, I still found this book extremely helpful and full of new information and ideas. I high recommend buying this audiobook or gifting it to a friend who “hasn’t been themselves lately”.

I love that this book talks more about proper communication in relationships with your partner, friends and at work along with so much other helpful information! I definitely recommend this book to anybody even if you feel like you don’t or rarely struggle with any mental health issues.

Disappointing

I heard about this book on a podcast and was looking forward to learning about mental health. instead she falls into the trap of talking about mental illness and of course the cure is always therapy and possibly medication. i was missing how to stay healthy, the impact of nutrition on mental health etc. waste of time
