Description

Millions of Robert Jordan fans will rejoice at the release of the ninth book in the phenomenally best-selling series The Wheel of Time. The sequel to the number-one New York Times best seller The Path of Daggers, which swept the nation like a firestorm, Winter's Heart continues a remarkable tale that is mesmerizing an entire generation of readers.

Rand is on the run with Min, and in Cairhein, Cadsuane is trying to figure out where he is headed. Rand's destination is, in fact, one she has never considered. Mazrim Taim, leader of the Black Tower, is revealed to be a liar. But what is he up to? Faile, with the Aiel Maidens, Bain and Chiad, and her companions, Queen Alliandre and Morgase, is prisoner of Savanna's sept.Perrin is desperately searching for Faile. With Elyas Machera, Berelain, the Prophet and a very mixed "army" of disparate forces, he is moving through country rife with bandits and roving Seanchan.

The Forsaken are ever more present, and united, and the man called Slayer stalks Tel'aran'rhiod and the wolfdream. In Ebou Dar, the Seanchan princess known as Daughter of the Nine Moons arrives - and Mat, who had been recuperating in the Tarasin Palace, is introduced to her. Will the marriage that has been foretold come about? There are neither beginnings or endings to the turning of the Wheel of Time. But it is a beginning....

Fix The Friggin' Audio

I am highly non-plussed. Why the heck has this been a problem that has been NOTED for 5 years? That is unacceptable.

Editor: listen to this prior to publishing it!!

What disappointed you about Winter's Heart?

The editing was horrible. There are 253 "chapters" in this audio book. Some "chapter" breaks occur where they should while other occur mid conversation. The absolute worst part is that there are at least 15+ occurrences of repeated content (10-20 seconds each time) and it's not just within different "chapters". I hope the so called "editor" of the audiobook does his/her job better for the remaining books because this is beyond ridiculous!

It is fixed!

Reading all the reviews, I almost didn't buy this just due to the audio quality issues everyone talked about. The issues have been fixed. No replays of some content and all the chapters are there. My only gripe is when Kramer has to read a sultry female character...sounds like a drag queen...kind of takes you out of the moment. Otherwise a really great book. Going to get book 10 now!

Beware, there is a huge section missing

This audio book is missing a fairly large section from the last part of the book. It essentially repeats the last hour or so of the book twice. I will update the review once they have fixed the issue, but buyer beware.

Needed someone to listen to it before releasing

Any additional comments?

There are many times when a sentence or paragraph is repeated. At first, I thought it was me accidently doing it but it wasn't . It is random and a bit annoying

Great Performance, Good Story, HORRIBLE Production

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

This could have easily been a 4 or 5 star review if the production value wasn't so bad. In this 9th entry to to Jordan's Wheel of Time, a new company took over production. This resulted in multiple times where the narration would repeat the previous 2 or 3 sentences. Additionally, there were numerous extended pauses that were just long enough that you wondered if the recording had stopped. Both of these production errors truly hampered the ability to get lost in the moment. Seeing as neither of these problems arose in the previous eight entries, also narrated by Reading and Kramer, the fault lies solely with the publisher.

Have you listened to any of Kate Reading and Michael Kramer ???s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Once again Kate Reading and Michael Kramer made Robert Jordan's world come alive. Despite the numerous voices and characters throughout the book, I always know who is speaking as their ability to bring life to each character is truly inspiring.

Adjectives

I don't know what happened to Robert Jordan during this period of his writing, but for some reason his writing style changed from verbs to mostly adjectives. He goes into great detail in describing a characters clothing and appearance, but the characters have very little action anymore. I feel cheated. Major event happens like this. Ten pages describing what the characters were wearing. Major event starts...major character passes out. When major character wakes up, major event is finished, but we get ten more pages on how disheveled his clothing is. I feel like Jordan took the last 25% of the series plot, divided in to five books, then filled the blank pages with adjectives so as to stretch it out to sell more books. Hopefully some day, someone will condense the last five books into one book that it should have been.

On and ON and ON --will it never end?

MY personal opinion---you can skip both books 9 and 10 and miss very little. I'm seriously thinking of looking for an abridged version because I kept falling asleep during these 2 books (and had really weird dreams too) and just didn't go back and play it again,Sam.

I got so confused that I wrote a review for this book but posted it to Book 10 and it didn't really make any difference.

A few high points aren't worth the never ending taverns, battles and trite writing.

By this time, one would thing the main characters had developed-theres been the space to do it, but I feel I know more about -for example-Thom than Rand- and Avendah (sorry I don't have the books so I don't know the spellings) than Elayne.

My daughter just finished the last book and says the wait is worth the pain-but she read/listened to the books over 15 years and not in one fell swoop, like I am.

Buch gut - technische Umsetzung mangelhaft

Bumps...

Story and readers are excellent as always, but there are... bumps... in the audio data. Passages repeated unnecessarily. A bit annoying.
And in several places wrong words escaped the lectors, such as "Tuon" when it should be "Tylin", "Suroth" instead of "sul'dam", and such.
