Description

When Arthur defeated Mammon, he never expected Lucifer to awaken, and what’s more, she’s made Arthur an offer he can’t refuse. Join her in the fight against the Darkness or face the consequences. On one hand, it’s a good deal. On the other, well, it’s Lucifer. Worse, she’s not the only one who woke up. Wrath has broken free. Envy is insane. And Lust? Well, Lust is just looking for a big strong man to… well, you know. To Death. Still, if there’s one thing Arthur’s gotten good at, it’s dealing with cranky Archangels. There’s just one problem. Heaven’s about to fall, and when it does, the Darkness’s champion will march on Hell. Guess Arthur better fix his sword. Fast.

Keeps Getting Better

Pride picks up right where book two left us, but only with a bigger problem. Our lovable doofus Arthur finds himself right back up to his neck in Hell's outhouse. The good news it, it seems like he's finally accepting his role, gaining more confidence n who he is, and is ready to lead his team to victory, pausing only to make some of his lady friends happy for few minutes before moving on to win it all.

Bad news is, the Darkness has a champion, and that bad grass mother fletcher is heading Arthurs way. One of the things I love about Cipriano's writing style is that he is able to craft a serious story without making it heavey. He keeps things light and breezy when he need to, and he knows when to inject some levity. ******SIDE NOTE: CHECK OUT THE PEN IS MIGHTIER!!!!**********

I have, in just a few books begun to consider him a favorite author, and I know I will be snatching up everything he does from this point forth.

Gary Furlong is the MAN. He narrates this like he is sweet talking a chick who has had just one less than too many, and is trying to score before closing time. You just have to love his style.

Going for the next book, why don't you too?

Still nothing but good entertainment

So what is there to know about book three? Well it continues the vein of book 2. Arthur is no longer just a support character the leads from the rear. Rather he's coming into his own power, and discovering his own powers and unlocking his inner bada$$.

Which means if the only reason you like the series up to this point was the original premise you'll be disappointed. As for me, I full approve of the direction, it is not a completely slapstick book but it doesn't take itself too seriously either which is nice. Also three of the last six fallen princesses show up and along with Gabriella are more fleshed out which is nice. Yes finally a book that doesn't just promise to flesh out side characters but actually does! Finally! Once more Arthur himself has some growing pains and changes to do as well. Lastly while there's a bit more sex this time; again it is not described so no complaining about it being porn, if you want porn go read a romance novel and leave the guy fantasy books alone.

In the end if you've followed the series, enjoy anime style stories, a story that is still more about entertainment value than being Shakespeare's successor and if you liked those first two books than here's your next guilty pleasure book. Add to this its actually cheaper than a credit; indulge away.

Now let's just hope the audiobook version of book four is released soon.

good but a little slow.

I love the characters I love Arthur's bumbling personality and happy-go-lucky style. But honestly he could be a little bit more I don't know let's goofy. I get that that's part of his personality but it slows the story down a lot and it kind of drags in the middle starts out good it drags in the middle and it speeds up at the end and then by the time you get to the end your want to hear more. Some people would say that's the mark of a good author. I agree that you're a good author but I think you could do better there's always room for improvement this is not a scathing review it's a good review I promise because I think that the characters deserve more development within the storyline. I honestly look forward to the next book in the series.

Series peaked at book 1

I've bought the last two books hoping it'd get better, but it's just getting worse. For the first time with a LitRPG style book, I'm not gonna complete the series and considered refunding this book about halfway through it. Whereas most of these book series build on their interesting bits and escalate in a logical sort of way, this series is just all over the place; written at the level of mediocre fan fiction that just wants to jump around and do zany things that sound fun in the author's head, but are translated poorly into a coherent story. As is, I was just using this series as a way to kill time until Super Sales on Super Heroes book 2 was on Audible, but it's not even good enough to fill that void anymore because I actually get frustrated listening to this (and not in a "this is suspenseful" way, but a "what is this and why did I pay for this" kind of way.) The fantasy elements are incoherent and the most interesting bits are not utilized well. The power creep is worse than in stone anime... MC will get some cool power boost, get to be useful for like 5 minutes, then get trounced by the next thing he meets. People have said that the harem elements save this series, but I think even that is terribly done and suffers from the same inconsistencies as everything else. Don't waste your time or money.

Another good book in the series

Our protagonist is training, building and getting ready for the the eventual big battle. He takes lots of lumps, has quite a bit of sex, and has a wake up call. Can't wait for the next.

The MC block head

I thought or more hoped the books would get better as time went on. I was horribly wrong. The MC is yet another dumb a$$ in a long line of dumb a$$ MCs. He spends most of his time questioning ( why this or that ) entities that having been living many millennia more than him. It's like really dude, why are you questioning CONSTANTLY someone like that?

I don't know why I'm still holding out hope

What would have made The Builder's Pride better?

Write the females as if they are not guys in a female body?

Has The Builder's Pride turned you off from other books in this genre?

Of the Genre.... No.

Which character – as performed by Gary Furlong – was your favorite?

He has played most of the caricatures well. He has made all the women more feminine then the author has. If not for narrator I would have given up half way through book 1

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Builder's Pride?

Acting like a child in the dwarfine court.

Any additional comments?

I want to like this series. It could be great. It just isnt

Entertaining as ever

What did you love best about The Builder's Pride?

I enjoyed the high fantasy trip taken in this book. The journey through the belly of the beast and to the lands where Envy and Wrath reside to be the highlight. We got to see some other unique locales within Hell, and it was a fun side adventure.

What does Gary Furlong bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Lucifer as a southern belle. I highly doubt that would've been the voice I would imagine, and I thought it was a great choice. Gary Furlong has done a fantastic job narrating this series and gives every character a unique voice.

Any additional comments?

If you enjoyed the first two books, I have no doubt you will like this one as well. I feel like we are finally getting to see more and more of the world, and it's different inhabitants. The way things leave off may make the next book an interesting conundrum, and present some moral dilemmas. Although this series has never dwelled on those issues before, so maybe it won't get into those waters too deeply. I look forward to seeing the series continue.
