The star-studded and sidesplitting follow up to The Andy Cohen Diaries.
The megapopular host of Watch What Happens: Live and executive producer of the Real Housewives franchise is back, better than ever, and telling stories that will keep his publicist up at night.
Since the publication of his last book, Andy has toured the country with his sidekick, Anderson Cooper; hit the radio waves with his own Sirius station, Radio Andy; appeared on Real Time with Bill Maher despite his mother's conviction he was not intellectually prepared; hosted NBC's primetime New Year's Eve special; guest edited Entertainment Weekly; starred in Bravo's Then & Now with Andy Cohen; offended celebrities with his ongoing case of foot-in-mouth disease; and welcomed home Teresa "Namaste" Giudice from a brief stint in jail.
Hopping from the Hamptons to the Manhattan dating world, the dog park to the red carpet, Cardinals superfan and mama's boy Andy Cohen, with Wacha in tow, is the kind of star fans are dying to be friends with. This book gives them that chance.
If The Andy Cohen Diaries was deemed "the literary equivalent of a Fresca and tequila" by Jimmy Fallon, Superficial is a double: dishier, juicier, and friskier. In this account of his escapades - personal, professional, and behind-the-scenes - Andy tells us not only what goes down but exactly what he thinks of it.
I was sooo excited for this book.
I was disappointed.
Andy was entertaining and I love his enthusiasm when he reads but I expected a lot more stories / substance.
This book seems true to its title: "Superficial".
Meaning even when he describes more than just what he did that day...has an anecdote...he seems to just breeze over it ...lightly brushing on it so much so that you sometimes almost miss it.
I feel like this was an over promise under deliver situation. Total bummer.

First let me say I took other reviewers advice and listened at 1.25. Also, I love everything Bravo so I was going in a fan and wanted to love it. But it was a little overhyped and if Andy wasn't over himself by the end - I was. It becomes whiny in places where no one can possibly be empathetic. (Sorry, not sorry Andy that your closet is palatial)?
I kept expecting tales of fun escapades or crazy housewives adventures. Doesn't happen. It's a daily diary of who he saw & where - but nothing salacious like I thought. It's good if you enjoy Bravo & Andy but it's not everything I expected. I wanted to badly to love, but came away with like.

Would you listen to Superficial again? Why?
He does what he does - so don't get to bothered when he over-acts. No, i would not listen to it again -- this is like a gossip newspaper - you just peruse and throw it away - that is the purpose of it all, and NOT a Churchill Biography....LOL

I was looking forward to Andy's third book. The first two had been outstanding, this one was a disappointment for me. This did not feel like a look into his life but more a lame attempt to follow up a truly great second book. I am an Andy fan but this book needed something more or less don't really know!

did I really buy this?
yes, you did. Meh.
nothing much new beyond what is already out there--except for his bathrooming habits, which I could've lived quite nicely without that knowledge. the title does not lie.

I love Andy Cohen and all of his books. Please don’t ever stop keeping a diary, and don’t ever stop writing these books! I love your shows, and you! Can’t wait to see what is next on your book adventures! Thanks for always making my day with your stories and shows!
Awesome read ... even better listen to Andy read the book to you!
AC invites us to be part of his world, filled with famous friends and excitement. He breaks the fourth wall(?) a few times and I felt like one of his girlfriends sipping rose`. Loved it and will listen again and again. 💜
Andy Cohen is very good at being himself. He doesn’t sugar coat or pretend that he’s someone he’s not. I can’t get enough of him!
If you could sum up Superficial in three words, what would they be?
comforting, mundane, surface-level
What did you like best about this story?
Being able to dive into the world of Andy Cohen is pretty exciting. It feels like we're walking the streets of Manhattan with him and Wakka.
What about Andy Cohen’s performance did you like?
His unique set of vocabulary, his lively voice, and his impersonation of his mother
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Unfortunately, it was not nearly as engaging or enthralling as his first two books. I listened to this on an eight hour road trip both ways and found it hard to get through. The enthusiasm of writing a book seems to have faded for Andy, and that made me sad. The Andy Cohen Diaries felt so innovative and fresh, even though it had technically been done before. There was so much creative thought put into it, and I felt Andy's dedication to his craft in every word he read. This book felt like something he just needed to write to finish out his book deal, and I hate saying that because I love everything that Andy touches! Please don't hate me for writing this :(
