    Description

Emma's friends are close. Her enemies are closer.

Emma Fern has won at life: she's a prize-winning author and she's blissfully happy with her husband, Jim. It wasn't an easy rise to the top, but Emma knows you can't achieve success without sacrifice. The trouble is, Jim knows that too.

As her literary triumph starts to fade into the past, Emma comes under pressure to write a second bestseller. But her big secret is that she didn't write the first one. She's a fraud, and the only people who ever knew the truth are...no longer a problem.

What Emma didn't count on was Jim playing the long game too. He has his own secrets - and a dangerous plan that could derail her beautifully orchestrated life. Faced with the loss of everything that defines her, Emma is forced to take increasingly desperate steps.

She won't go down without a fight. And as Jim should know, she won't fight fair.

I'm returning and buying the actual book!

Oh my goodness did this narrator listen to the first book at all? This bubbly tone is so not the Character, just as Rudd (Narrator of first book) Portrayed Emma, She is Mature, thirty something savvy New Yorker, not this college aged sounding airhead that this reader is making her into.
So dissatisfied,I really enjoyed the narration of the previous book however, before you waste a credit... sample this one. If you listened and met Emma before...You will totally understand my frustration...who assigned this narrator to crime fiction anyway?! Errr

The narrator makes a huge difference!

I enjoyed Until I Met Her which was the first novel in the Emma Fern series. After He Killed Me is certainly not as good, but going from narrator Kate Rudd to narrator Carly Robins was a huge mistake. Robins' timing is awful and she does a really lousy job with male voices. Listening is too painful. If this book interests you, you should get the Kindle version.

    Great story. Awful narration.

As far as the story goes...just like the first one...LOVED it. When I reviewed “Until I Met Her” I had expressed not liking the “robotic” style of the narrator. When I realized the switch between the first book and this one though...I’d do anything to get that robot back. While Carly Robbins is talented, her voice for this book was not a good fit in the least. While I understand the transition of Emma’s overall personality from the first book to this one, the narration for this book made her sound like a teenage airhead. The attempts at reading the male parts was...ugh. They literally sounded like Roger from the Nickelodeon classic “Doug” (late 80’s & early 90’s babies will know what I mean.) made it really hard to appropriately visualize and take the dialogue seriously at times. Overall though, couldn’t stop listening to this book. Absolutely recommend.

    What an airhead

The narrator didn’t help by making Emma sound like a total bubble head, but the storyline seemed like it was written by a teenager. Some plot lines were nonsensical as in they would never ever ever happen in real life and the holes in the story were big enough to fit a truck. The ending was stupid.

    Hated narration

I read "Missing Molly" and loved it. Unfortunately, the ridiculous storyline, combined with the incredibly distracting narration, made me give up on this book before I finished it. The voices were so affected, it was hard to take any of it seriously, but I tried. I stuck with it, til I couldn't take it any more and simply stopped caring about what happened to any of the characters. Sad. I was so hopeful after "Missing Molly".

First book was great but then they changed

The narrator in this book is awful-should never narrate anything else. Ruined the book. I was so excited to start the second book and I tried but gave up half-way through chapter 4.

    Interesting plot, terrible narrator

You definitely need to read the previous novel Until I Met Her to understand the intricacies
and references woven through the story. I found myself intrigued by the twists and eagerly anticipating the ending which was the ultimate twist. However, the narrator was really lacking. Her male voices were forced and artificial, her protagonist voice was often childish and shrill.

Struggling to finish. Narrators voice is annoying.

I have listed to all of the Natalie Barelli books. I cannot stand the narrators voice on this one. It’s too fast, snarky and high pitched. Did she not listen to the prior story. It just does not flow.

    Inconsistent

Ok narrator of first book wasn’t perfect but she was great compared to this one. Note to creators: if you establish a character (Carole) in first book, don’t change her voice from a normal mature woman to a squeaky air head. Drove me crazy, mostly that they didn’t consider it. PS I loved first book.
