    Description

    Lights! Camera! Homicide!

Contractor Shannon Hammer has to dig through murder suspects in the latest Fixer-Upper Mystery from the New York Times best-selling author of Eaves of Destruction and Once upon a Spine.

Don't miss the Hallmark Movies and Mystery Originals starring Jewel, based on the Fixer-Upper Mystery series!

Shannon Hammer’s younger sister, Chloe, left Lighthouse Cove after high school to make it big in Hollywood. And she did it! Chloe is the cohost of a popular home-repair show on the Home Builders Network. Now, after 10 years, she has returned to their quaint coastal hometown to film several shows featuring her sister, Shannon, along with some special mini-segments on Victorian style and design.

But Shannon quickly realizes that things are not exactly blissful in TV land. Bree, the executive producer of the show, has a knack for stirring up sticky situations, and when she’s found dead, Chloe and the entire crew are under suspicion. Shannon, her thriller-writer boyfriend, Mac, and their crime-solving friends soon unearth the real reason Chloe left home.

Is that 10-year-old secret connected to Bree’s death? And can Shannon track down the real killer before her beloved sister becomes the next victim?

Best story line so far but ditch the narrator.

I'm addicted to Shannon and Lighthouse Cove - after watching the Hallmark movie - I decided I needed to read (or in this case listen) to the books that inspired her. This is one of the rare cases where having watched the movies didn't affect my enjoyment of the books. There's so much more in the books that you can't get from the movies - the characters that Kate's developed are amazing.
This one was the best yet - you get the family dynamic between Chloe and Shannon immediately. While Shannon's friends were less visible compared to the previous books, it was definitely a joy to see the development of Eric and of course get to know Chloe better.
The issue I have with this book was the narrator - I actually had to read the book in order to confirm that the narration was the issue - it was. I will not be getting the audio book if they don't change narrators on the next one - the quality of the audiobook definitely decreased with the narrator.

    Had trouble with narration

This is my first negative review. Although the narrator has a very nice reading voice this was not a good book for her. It could just be my ears, though I’ve never had this problem before, but I couldn’t differentiate between the different characters which made it very difficult to follow. I struggle to finish the book and almost didn’t a few times. I think if there was only one character’s voice it would have been fine but, unfortunately, this book has several different character voices. I’m used to women struggling with male voices and vice versa so if that was the only issue but it was almost impossible to differentiate between the two main characters (the sisters). I’ve purchased all the previous books in this series but I’m returning this one and will verify that this reader isn’t the narrator on the next books before purchasing them. Again - I think she would have been fine if it would have been easier to differentiate between the two sisters voices. I even struggled with the story because of this and I honestly couldn’t tell you if the story was as good as the previous books in the series.

    Hurrah. For another interesting plot

Thoroughly enjoyable. The only complaint I have is that I much prefer Angela Starling as the reader. She does a superior job in making characters voices very individual.

    reader review

Once I got use to her the reader was very good BUT when I am use to a different voice in an on going series that I follow, it takes a few chapters to adjust to a new person. Not that Kate wasn't good but I am curious to know what happened to Angela Starling.

Not as good as previous books in series

Slow start. New narrator sounds too serious and angst ridden. And her voice doesn't distinguish between characters as well. The opening conversation between Shannon and Chloe is inane and narrator doesn't distinguish between sisters at all.

    Sisters on camera

I enjoyed this story line. The different roles each sister has
In their shared vocational passions gives good insight into their personalities. The unexpected trouble that haunts Chloe was a surprise for me. It is well designed and described.
I’m eager for the next book to be released on Audible!

Go back to the regular narrator

The story was great but this new narrator just doesn't do it. Too many of the voices sound the same with no differention allowing us to know who is who. Please rethink this for future titles that you record.

No action, drags on until at least ch. 5...

Waaayyy too much dialogue about nothing, introducing and reintroducing characters. Needs more action and mystery. Narrator good.
