Ahhhmazing
I'm very picky with my audiobooks - this one was up there with Harry Potter as one of my favorites. The narrators are amazing, the story line kept me engaged during my daily subway commute. Definitely worthy of a credit!

did not disappoint

This series is not just for young adults!
I am 52, and my oldest daughter is 30 - and we both love this series and have listened to the first two books multiple times! The narrators are fantastic...they have made a great story even better!
Even if you aren't typically a fan of novels with a fantasy element (I am not), these are well worth the listen!

The story grows on you, till you want more and more ...
At first, the story feels like a Teen "coming of age" tale in a future/ancient dystopian society, along the lines of Divergent or Hunger Games ... But then it grows on you and evolves in your head and heat into a story of the unfree wanting freedom, the downtrodden wanting release and the unpeacable yearning for rest.
Even so, it is somewhat predictable, hence only 4 stars, but the entire series earns 5 stars for enjoyablity and, as if it were a very long Easops fable, for morality convincingly conveyed.
Looking forward to book three!!
PS: Performance is great except for an occasional male voice being too effeminate ... Hense only 4 stars.

Excellent Narration of a great story
The voice actors did a great job bringing a good story to life! Tahir kept the characters challenged and often crushed as they worked toward their goals. There was language and sexual content.

A great book making me want more
What made the experience of listening to A Torch Against the Night the most enjoyable?
I really enjoyed the 3 different narrators for the 3 main characters much better than book one with just one.
What was one of the most memorable moments of A Torch Against the Night?
The development of the characters. I really enjoyed Blood Shrike Helene's part of the story.
Which character – as performed by the narrators – was your favorite?
It is a toss up between Hell and Victorius, and I could be spelling their names wrong.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

I almost did not bother listening to book 2 right away as I was not impressed as much as I thought I would be for book 1 after reading all the rave reviews. I am now very glad I listened to this book right away and I want more!
One difference is that I really enjoyed the 3 narrators as it made the story come to life. I also really like the character growth as Lera (sp?) kind of annoyed me in the first book but it could of just been due to the narration. The characters evolved and I could identify with them more. I especially enjoyed the addition of Blood Shrike Helene's point of view being added.
This book moved right along and was exciting with some unexpected surprises. I listened during my commute and can honestly say there were a few times I just sat in the car after I parked not wanting to go in as I could not stop listening. I cannot wait for book 3 and I think this could be a great movie series.

Awesome story! Terrible voices reading.
Elias and Laia need to get together already. Ughhhh! lol
Story is awesome and can't wait to start the 3rd book.
The voicing is really annoying though. I hate the soul catchers voice, Canes, Cook, Nightbringer, and everyone else.
Except Elias. His voice makes you melt. lol

Fantastic!
I am in love with the awakening of magic in this world, with the repentant killer and the fiery rebel and their dance against an unbeatable empire. This is a must read for any fantasy lover.

Such a great story. You feel every emotion as if it was your own. It is so unfair that it is over for now. It is desire, hatred, love and lost. Destroying, heartbreaking, loving, enraging, feeling, simply great.

Listened to this in every free second I had!
The best narrators I ever listened to! They made this story vivid as if I were watching a movie!
And the story itself is written so real im it‘s emotions and toughts. Everytime you think you know how the story will continue you are suprised by the unexpected turns. Love it! I Love it also that the female characters are very strong, but never too feministic.

unglaublich gut! atemberaubende Geschichte
