    I loved that the story revolved around equally brave and assertive, kind and flawed abbess and herbwife of diverging social status and religion who nevertheless bonded and even cherished each other well beyond their respective roles of employer and employee. I find myself choosing only 🦹‍♀️ female-centric fiction and I love this story revolving around empowered 💪 middle-age characters, spirituality, religion 🕋 and politics, an interesting perspective on an important history 📖 chapter around the Synod of Whitby that decided Easter 🐣 dates. The character analysis 🧐 is spiced up by a murder intrigue for those who 👍 mystery 🔬
