The Greek myths are amongst the greatest stories ever told, passed down through millennia and inspiring writers and artists as varied as Shakespeare, Michelangelo, James Joyce and Walt Disney. They are embedded deeply in the traditions, tales and cultural DNA of the West. You'll fall in love with Zeus, marvel at the birth of Athena, wince at Cronus and Gaia's revenge on Ouranos, weep with King Midas and hunt with the beautiful and ferocious Artemis.

Neil Gaiman has long been inspired by ancient mythology in creating the fantastical realms of his fiction. Now he turns his attention back to the source, presenting a bravura rendition of the great northern tales. In Norse Mythology, Gaiman fashions primeval stories into a novelistic arc that begins with the genesis of the legendary nine worlds; delves into the exploits of the deities, dwarves, and giants; and culminates in Ragnarok, the twilight of the gods and the rebirth of a new time and people.

Histoire
On the planet Tython, the ancient Je’daii order was founded. And at the feet of its wise Masters, Lanoree Brock learned the mysteries and methods of the Force - and found her calling as one of its most powerful disciples. But as strongly as the Force flowed within Lanoree and her parents, it remained absent in her brother, who grew to despise and shun the Je’daii, and whose training in its ancient ways ended in tragedy. Now, from her solitary life as a Ranger keeping order across the galaxy, Lanoree has been summoned by the Je’daii Council on a matter of utmost urgency.

Description
The complete, unabridged audiobook of A Storm of Swords.
HBO’s hit series A Game of Thrones is based on George R. R. Martin’s internationally best-selling series A Song of Ice and Fire, the greatest fantasy epic of the modern age. A Storm of Swords is the third volume in the series.
The Seven Kingdoms are divided by revolt and blood feud, and winter approaches like an angry beast. Beyond the Northern borders, wildlings leave their villages to gather in the ice and stone wasteland of the Frostfangs. From there, the renegade Brother Mance Rayder will lead them South towards the Wall.
The men of the Night’s Watch are ready for the coming of a great cold and the walking corpses that travel with it. But now they face a horde of wildlings 20000 strong - hungry savage people steeped in the dark magic of the haunted wilderness – poised to invade the Kingdom of the North where Robb Stark wears his new-forged crown.
But Robb’s defences are ranged against attack from the South, the land of House Stark’s enemies the Lannisters. His sisters are trapped there, dead or likely yet to die, at the whim of the Lannister boy-king Joffrey or his depraved mother Cersei, regent of the Iron Throne. Cersei’s ambition is unfettered while the dwarf Tyrion Lannister fights for his life, a victim of treachery.
And on the other side of the ocean, the last of the Targaryens rears the dragons she hatched from her husband’s funeral pyre. Daenerys Stormborn will return to the land of her birth to avenge the murder of her father, the last Dragon King on the Iron Throne.

The best in the series yet!
A Storm of Swords is the third book in the “A Song of Ice and Fire” series. It is in my view the best of the series so far. There is so much going on, and its all nail-biting and exciting! It evokes so many emotions in you, you literally cannot stop until you get to the end. The characters grow and start changing. You see different sides to most of them and start understanding them much better.
The narration is, once again, absolutely amazing. Roy has more voices than you could ever imagine and does them all with flair. What an epic performer!
This was definitely the best in the series thus far, I highly recommend this book.

Brilliant.
What did you love best about A Storm of Swords (Part One) - Steel and Snow?
Everything. Don't mean to be glib. But it is simply brilliant.
Who was your favorite character and why?
All of them. Masterfully rendered.
Have you listened to any of Roy Dotrice’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes. As brilliant as ever.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I don't think I would like to listen to any book for 24 hours straight. But if I had to, this would be the one.

Fantastic Narration and an awesome book!
Where does A Storm of Swords (Part One) - Steel and Snow rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
By the time you read this review you would've listened to the previous books, so all i'm going to say is, it's more of the same great listen as all the other books.
What did you like best about this story?
The great thing about this story is that just when you think you've got the usual plot figured out, BAM! you're thrown completely out of the water and have no idea what's going to happen.
Have you listened to any of Roy Dotrice’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Roy Dotrice's performance is flawless. Great narration and great character performance. i particularly picked up towards the end how the Lanister brother's accents were becoming more and more alike as the characters became similar in sympathies.

I had to stop...
I had to stop what I was doing to pick up my jaw, lest I stepped on it.
I think I have learned how this man writes and so brace myself for an unexpected turn, trying to predict where the book will go but for the life of me, I can not pick most of the plot line twists.
You can imagine how stoked I am when I come close to guessing it but on the whole, this series is highly recommended for those who wish to be taken on a roller coaster for over 200 hours.

Worst narration I've ever heard.
If you can't pronounce "toga" then maybe this is not the job for you. Due to my worsening eyesight I find reading increasingly frustrating and turned to audio books. This narration is the worst I've come across. Female voices sound like a poor impression of the swamp hag, the vast majority of characters sound like they are dim witted or stoned and many characters have different voices in the same dialogue.
It's hard to believe that the ASOIAF series is narrated by a man that can't pronounce "toga". Listening to this has become more of a struggle than a pleasure.

Brilliant story - better than the TV series
The book's are better than the series as they are separate and interesting in their differences. I loved the narrative but at times - the narrator ruins the voices of some of the characters. My most hideous is the hand maiden of Daenerys - he does an awful rendition of an extremely old fashioned and insulting Asian accent from a bad Pink Panther movie.
Martin's characters and world are wonderful filled with people you love and many you love to hate. I loved the TV series and it brought me to the books and I now love the written version as well. Just 'differently'...

Excellent book, good reading
The book itself is great and very enjoyable. The reader manages to make it a very immersive experience. The only aspect I would take issue with is the changing of certain characters' voices and accents from the previous audiobooks (e.g. Tywin Lannister). This is probably down to the long time since the previous book was released.
