Description
A spy...
My name is Charlotte Locke, and I’m an analyst for Section 47, a secret government agency that tracks terrorists, criminals, and other paramortal bad guys who want to unleash their abilities on an unsuspecting mortal world. I have a magical form of synesthesia that senses danger and uncovers lies - making me a stealthy operative.
I’m trudging through another day when one of Section’s cleaners - assassins - takes an interest in me. I don’t need my synesthesia to realize that he is extremely dangerous and that he will do anything to achieve his goals - even if it means putting me in the line of fire.
...and an assassin
I’m Desmond Percy, one of Section 47’s most lethal cleaners. I’m also a man on a mission, and I need Charlotte Locke’s skills to help me keep a promise, settle a score, and kill some extremely bad people.
Charlotte might not like me, but we’re stuck together until my mission is over. Still, the more time we spend together, the more I’m drawn to her. But at Section 47, you never know who you can trust - or who might want you dead.

meh
This book is just okay. There are some interesting parts especially where all the pieces are put together near the end. Sadly those interesting parts are few and far between.
The dialogue is stilted and poorly phrased in certain technical situations. The author obviously didn't do enough research into what happens leading up to, running and after running convert ops, and relied on trait dialogue that one would see in B rated tv.
The female narrator was decent and had a better Australian accent than the male narrator who was narrating the character who was supposed to have an Australian accent. The male narrator's accents leaves a lot to be desired and he kept slipping in and out of I badly executed Australian accent throughout his whole narration and it was distracting.

Story concept ok, but...
I was disappointed in this story! Like most authors, there is plenty of filler, but usually it is story related to the main theme! A lot of this filler was about the color of the clothing and the shoes, etcetera, and introspection of past life experiences!
And then it became a romance novel! Not what I was expecting nor wanted! I will not continue any more of this series! Nor this author!

needs a single narrator
I liked the story, although the repetition was a nagging subtext. I've read others of her stuff, so expected the callous disregard for life. But the two narrators were at odds with personalities. I would have preferred to have just the female narrator (greater range and definitely more diverse character representation). All in all, I think if there is a book two, I'd be reading it instead of hearing it...

loved it.
I loved Jennifer's new story, as I have loved all her stories. There were some great characters throughout the book. Had good action and story line, it was fun learning about all the different senses the characters had. I thought their nick names were great. I liked Charlottes snarky attitude, and Desmond's accent and how he always seemed laid back. I enjoyed having more than one voice read the book. I hope Jennifer makes a series. If she does I really hope she makes the next book about Charlotte's friend. He's VERY sexy.

An Exciting Adventure!
I freaking loved this audiobook! The characters were fantastic and exactly how I enjoy them. This is the perfect listen to take your troubles off your mind. Charlotte has plenty of her own. Narration was very good.

A sense of perfection
Halfway through this book my only disappointment was that this is the first of what I hope is a long series. the characters are very well written and performed by true professionals. I highly recommend this book to anyone.

Danger
I enjoyed this story. It was unique and fun. I was excited to see what would happen. *spoiler* Trying to guess who is the mole was my mission throughout the story.

Worth it
Definitely worth hanging on. The danger, danger, danger drove me crazy in the beginning. Once that was cut back a little the book took off. Love the paranormal aspect, totally different. In for a great ride.

Good story
I enjoy Jennifer's writing and the way she tells a story. Her characters are well developed and her women are always strong and capable.

Could’ve been great
As always, I love the characters Jennifer has created. Charlotte’s narrator is great. However, Desmond‘s narrator keeps pulling me out of the story. I hope they find another person to narrate his part next time, because it really detracts from the overall work. It’s like he’s fighting letting his own accent come out, which in turn makes his narration stilted. It would’ve been much better to let his English accent come through in place of the Aussie one instead of trying to speak with an American accent.

I hope for more
The story is a very good mix of suspense mixed with paranormal. I especially liked the heroine. However, the male narrator sounded kind of artificial. I felt that he didn‘t get into the story.
But I‘m hoping to read/listen more of Charlottes and Desmonds story
