In *A Quick Lunch…The Date That Ended Before Dessert*, the narrator meets a man she connected with online. After several good phone conversations, they plan to meet at a restaurant, but an hour before, he changes the location to a bar he knows. Despite the awkward last-minute change, she goes along with it. At the bar, they wait over an hour for the kitchen to open, and just as the food arrives, he abruptly ends the date, paying the bill while she’s away for a brief moment. Feeling rushed and disappointed, especially because she enjoyed the food, she declines his offer for a ride and walks away in the rain.
Reflecting on the date while enjoying a drink at another bar, she realizes that not every match leads to a connection, but the experience taught her more about what she truly wants and doesn’t want in a relationship. In the end, the rain mirrors her mood, bringing a sense of clarity and freedom.
