A Pledge of Honor follows the lives of three women from a small south Georgia town, starting on their high school graduation day in June 1942. Knowing their lives were soon to change forever, they pledge that no matter what adventures their lives contain they will stay friends, keeping no secrets about the wonderful lives they all envision.

They share their lives through visits and letters of the successes that each has attained, however, they all exaggerate the successes and eliminate the failures, tragedies and brutality with which they live.

Georgia Coffey proclaims the glamour, the beautiful home and designer clothes that she wanted throughout her life has come true, never telling of the lengths she had to go through to stay married and in the style she has coveted from childhood.

Carrie Hendrix, the natural healer, finds herself able to attain her dream of being a nurse and doing so falls in love with a doctor. Only the war has other ideas for her future. She must face many challenges and holds a secret from not only the man she loves but her friends.

And, Beverly Colson, sweet Beverly, wanting only to be a wife and mother, marries a man haunted by his own dark ghosts. She pulls herself up and following the ethics of her father, becomes a successful business woman.

Each attains their dreams from yesteryear, but their adventures are far more than they bargained for, and each breaks the pledge taken so solemnly on that dusty road in Dawkins, Georgia in 1942.
