At Whisperen Lake Academy, adults can make anything sound “reasonable”—even the kind of explanation that makes your skin itch.
Thirteen-year-old Gwen arrives thinking the hardest part of boarding school will be fitting in. Instead, she finds herself caught in a foggy tangle of whispered rules, closed doors, and a “case” the grown-ups seem very eager to declare finished.
But Gwen can’t let it go. Not when the story doesn’t add up. Not when questions earn side-eyes. Not when the safest thing to do is apparently to stop asking.
A Perfectly Reasonable Cover-up is a sharp, diary-style dark-academia mystery episode full of uneasy charm, suspicious authority figures, and a kid narrator brave (and stubborn) enough to keep pushing on the one question nobody wants answered: What kind of world is this?
