    Description

From USA Today best-selling author Rebecca Yarros comes a small-town single-parent romance.

Nine years ago, Weston Madigan saved me. I came to Colorado penniless, heartbroken, and pregnant, searching for a fresh start. Weston gave me a job at his family’s resort, then left the next day and never returned, not even to visit.

Then I stumble in on Weston cooking breakfast shirtless—gloriously, inappropriately shirtless—in the shared kitchen of my duplex in employee housing. Given the shock on both our faces, he wasn’t expecting a roommate either, let alone two.

The growly pilot is only home to start his family’s new heli-skiing operation. I can handle being his temporary roommate, right? Chemistry and attraction aren’t impossible to ignore when you agree on ground rules. Besides, even with those gorgeous, brooding brown eyes, the guy is a walking thundercloud...until my daughter, Sutton, makes him laugh and he smiles at me. Then everything changes. Cue inconvenient heart flip.

    This is only temporary.

    I can’t fall for Weston.

    I. Will. Not. Fall. For. Weston.

But rules go out the window when you’re a little too close.

    Great story!

This is a new to me author and I was not disappointed! This is the second book, chronologically, in the series although it is listed last when viewing the series in audible. Callie, Weston and little Sutton stole a piece of my heart. I’m geared up to read the next installment and enjoy the ride as Crew finds his love. Exceptional narration! Don’t miss this one!!

Love Jason Clarke & Callie Dalton!

I really enjoyed the narration by Jason Clarke and Callie Dalton, but sadly A Little Too Close fell a bit flat for me. I'm a huge fan of the grumpy + sunshine/I hate everyone but you tropes, and Weston was grade A premium grump material. The unintentional roommate/forced proximity worked well and I liked the chemistry between him and Callie. Unfortunately, the last third/quarter things started to go off the rails and the push and pull felt so forced. An honest heart to heart would have solved the entire thing and the complete 180 by both characters left me with whiplash. Callie's epiphany of dreams changing over time was a great point, but I would have liked her character arc to have been less dependent on Weston and romantic love. The story was still entertaining though, and the audiobook casting was perfect. Jason Clarke and Callie Dalton are two of the very best and I am always impressed by the variety of voices Jason Clarke utilizes.

    Overall 3.5 stars
    Performance 5 stars
    Story 2.5-3 stars

CW: death of parent/loved one (past), grief, housing insecurity, strained family relationships, parental abandonment, mentions of military service/missions

Tropes: forced proximity, roommates, single parent, workplace, slow burn, grumpy + sunshine, I hate everyone but you

Sweet and full on my feels!

I've been obsessing over Rebecca Yarros's books since last month, and this one is no different!
I love her way of telling a story, the depth of her characters and the love that you can feel over the pages.

Cali and Weston are emotionally so different from each other, that you can categorize then as opposites in every way.
While she's moved by her heart, he's moved by loyalty and principles, but never his emotions.

I loved their dynamics living together and all the little things that made them become a family, even before their chemistry fired up.

Series by different authors aren't usually as fluid as this one seems to be, and I'm diving right into the next book, cause all this group is really something else!

    Amazing narration!
Jason Clarke is one of my fave and Callie Dalton was also great!

    Great escape!

Jason Clarke was excellent as always. The female narrators annunciations were horrible especially as the male voice. I loved the novel taking place on the mountains. Rather than hot climates for a change. Characters were well developed. Good story line.

    A Little Too Close

I am loving the Madigan Mountain series with the brothers. Weston is off the charts, swoon worthy, grump hero. Callie is a determined single mom of Sutton, who lets Weston stay after a mix-up with housing. The chemistry between these characters is off the and the way Weston is with Sutton just melts my heart. Of course my favorite scene was when Callie is sick and Weston agrees to take over birthday activities with the girls. I love this book and all the brothers.

Perfect chemistry between Callie and Wes!

“A Little Too Close” is a delicious slow burn, single mom romance with a grumpy/hurt man who keeps his distance from allowing himself to have a HEA. I loved Wes and Callie’s story.

Callie has been working and living at Madigan Mountain, with her daughter Sutton, for the last ten years as the lodge photographer. Weston is coming back to the Mountain after being gone for 15 years and serving in the Army. Weston will run the helicopter division for the resort. But due to lodging issues, Callie and Weston find themselves as roommates.

I love when authors collaborate together to write an interconnected series and I am loving the Madigan brothers. I connected with Callie from the very beginning and she became an instant favorite for me. I loved her drive and need to provide the best life for Sutton as a single mom. Her journey to being a single mom is different and broke my heart. Wes was so special as well. The way he cared for his dying mother and then how he cared for his younger brother while grieving himself pulled at my heartstrings. I loved how Callie and Wes were thrown together and they built a friendship and trust with each other. Their chemistry and the slow burn buildup was delicious.

Jason Clarke and Callie Dalton were the perfect choices for Wes and Callie. Jason brought all of Wes’s grumpiness and vulnerability to life perfectly. Callie Dalton was so good as Callie with all the emotions that she went through in her story.

    Sweet and heart warming

Really enjoyed this single-mom meets sexy grouchy pilot romance and listening to how Calliope and Sutton made West fall head over heels in love with both of them, in-spite of his best efforts. Conflicted and secretly angry over a multitude of family issues, West needs to learn to trust again and his kindness to Calliope at her most vulnerable moment laid the ground for this romance 12 yrs later. Jason Clarke and Callie Dalton were perfect for both characters and i loved their banter and steamy moments. Narration was wonderful. I’ll definitely be listening to rest of thus amazing series
