Description

When doing the right thing goes horribly wrong...

Caroline Blakely is certain of two things: She was happy with her life as a first grade school teacher, and she can never, ever return to it.

After discovering a shocking truth about her father, the wealthy businessman at the helm of Blakely Oil, she’s on the run - a difficult feat given her father’s endless resources and connections.

With the help of friends, Carly is able to secure a new identity, but her attempts to keep a low profile are blown to bits when she gets stuck in Drum, Tennessee. When she investigates a cry in the parking lot outside her motel room, she finds herself the lone witness to a murder.

Stranded in the small Appalachian Mountain town, she soon realizes that Drum is as riddled with secrets as her own past. A huge chunk of the intrigue centers around the Drummond family, ancestors of the town’s founders, and their oldest son, Wyatt - an ex-con.

She knows she’d do best to stay away from the Drummonds, especially Wyatt, and from the mystery she’s stumbled upon, but Carly’s sense of right and wrong demands that she help, even if it means risking her own secrets...and her life.

less carly more rose

I liked this book but it was way to similar to rose, joe and his father. I feel it's the same story, different characters. Stick to Rose. I need more Rose!

No spoilers

I want to start off by saying I love D.G.S her writing and characters are so well put together. This book wasn't for me it felt like Carly was whiney every other page she was crying, or was about to cry. Her eyes were blurry with tears, her eye burned with trears, her eyes floated with tears. You get the point. What happened I thought she found a bit of a back bone in Henrietta. And why would Jed and Wyatt put her in a car that would break down. That didn't make much sense to me. But anyhow overall the book was ok I will give the next a try. Narration was done fabulous McManus was spot on. Lover her narration.

Really boring to listen to

This narration just droned on and on, would make a better read than listen.

Wonderful New Series

Carly Moore is on the run from her father under an alias. She gets stranded outside of Drum, TN. She gets rescued by Wyatt Drummond and his tow truck. On her first night in town, she's witness to a murder and is drawn into the drama and danger of Drum. Hopefully she can survive with Wyatt's help and the others in town if she can figure out who to trust. This is another wonderful book by Denise Grover Swank. Shannon McManus does a great job of narrating. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

Denise does it again

I was prepared to like this book because Denise is an amazing author, but I am in love. I couldn’t read it fast enough, the suspense was killing me. First book in a new series and it’s a must read. A girl on the run from her past, ends up in a small Tennessee town, off the grid and Leary to trust anyone. Her first night in town she lands smack damn in the middle of a murder. Small towns have secrets and who can you trust.
